What do you say OU fans? You have some vital losses there. Taken from athlon sports:

quote:

They’re starting to round out on defense to a unit you’d expect Brent [Venables] to be coaching at Clemson. That’s the good news entering the SEC,” the coach said. “The bad news is that they could be bad on the O-line if they can’t pull some guys together late in the portal.

“Oklahoma is a legit top program, but the secret to the SEC is the line play, and they won’t be able to do what they want on offense if they can’t protect against the average DL in this league.”

He has the same view point as me. They will have a good defense on paper but the oline will collapse against any elite dline that they play and will be rendered one dimensional on offense with poor pass protection as well.

I don't put too much stock in anonymous sources. Too many so-called "sports writers" out there are their own anonymous source.

It's always amazing to me how 2 month+ old quotes pop back up as breaking news. Did they address the issues? Have they improved since a worthless "anonymous" coach (where coach is often very loosely used) quote?

You can tell this quote is from forever ago with:

quote:

“The bad news is that they could be bad on the O-line if they can’t pull some guys together late in the portal.

Why recycle such old stuff? It's useless now

Yeah, the anonymous guy made this comment..

And that is exactly what OU did. They portaled in several guys. As of now it looks like there will be two or three portal guys starting.

No OU fan is saying our OL isn't suspect. Hell, we're saying it's our weak link going into this season. Hopefully Coach B gets it figured out. But I'm not worried about Tennessee...

How will they beat us if they can't block our dline?

Their best chance is if their defense can stop our running game, beat oline consistently and pressure the heck out of Nico ...get him rattled in his first conference road game and turn it into a low scoring affair.

I don't think their defense is nearly good enough yet to do that though and Nico showed against top 5 Iowa's defense that even if everything is covered in the red zone, he's still plenty good enough to improvise and create his own TDs with elite pocket awareness and a natural playmaking ability.

If you aren't worried, that's because you aren't paying attention. No one was worried about us before 2022 started as well.

There's a reason why all the pundits are switching up and saying we are likely a playoff team now.

Heupel feels very confident in Nico and our offense after this off season and has said there will absolutely zero limitations on the offense this year which tells me he thinks we will be humming at full speed again like 2022.

Yes, our oline is battle tested and has a senior center commanding things for us. Your dline won't bring anything that we haven't seen many times before.

The secret to football everywhere is "line play" dipshit.

If "you can't protect your QB", you won't succeed anywhere in the country.

Wow.....what a statement.

OU will always have a talented team. This year is no exception. Still, I have never seen OU deal with a situation like this. Every o-line starter from last year - gone. Pretty much the same for the backups.

Jackson Arnold has tons of talent, but he only attempted a pass in 3 games, and only played 1 real game (and that was a double-digit bowl loss to Arizona).

If OU gets to 8 wins under these conditions, that is a great job by BV.

Wow sounds like Tennessee just can’t lose this game

I believe that will be the key difference in the game and why Tennessee will probably win.

You seem willfully ignorant that tennersee is replacing its entire secondary and lost 10 DBs in the off-season. And you just lost your returning nickel for the season to injury.

Oklahoma finished 2nd in the nation in INTs last year, they're all returning, and lil inexperienced Nico will be having to throw into that veteran secondary all game long.....on the road......against a team that isn't Iowa.

Additionally, where was tennersee's vaunted Oline and Dline last year against any team with a pulse?

Exactly why you will lose this game. It's not rocket science nor is it my fault that i need to include an illustration with crayons so the rest of the rant can understand.
