Is there any way Strickland would have hired Mullen and okayed the hiring of Begley if he thought there was improper conduct going on that could damage the university? He'd have to be Alleva-level stupid.

Underrated comment to be sure.
In the interview at the bottom of that page, she says that he found out he was hired on Sunday, and that he told her that night in his office... she was in Gainesville the next day.
