That's where the problem is then.
Apart from the unfortunate Listeater "incident," there's no problem.

At LSU, all students pretty much enter the same gate. Would be a big deal if some seats were in an upper deck.
We have three decks. Freshmen typically end up in the farthest corners of the third deck stratosphere.

But why not just do this for season tickets at the beggining of the year?
When they register (before fall starts), students purchase (add to their IDs) football passes that enable them to be allowed to pull tickets for games. Every student who attends the Alabama game will not necessarily attend the SMU game. Most will, but not all. The current process allows students to score different (e.g., better) tickets one week than they may have pulled the previous week. It's kind of a "thrill of the pull" deal. No need for the better "seats" (12th Man doesn't sit) to go unused, just because Joe Aggie attended one game, but maybe not another.
quote:
Are any of these students missing class by doing this?
I'm sure some are. But most students pull in groups/couples/whatever, which enables some kids to stand in line, while others attend class, get lit at The Chicken, or do whatever it is that they do.

you're right. i've never heard of a priority point system.
Not good enough. We need to see real sacrifice, not just "you have gone to every game and some computer algorithm thought you deserved it."

I think it'd be cool if I was still in college.
Sexy time....in tents. YEAH

Seems like fun to me
People that wait hours in line for a ticket aren't going to leave at halftime or show up late in the first place.

Exactly. The ones that would leave get put on the edges of the student section where their absence doesn't show up on TV.

Well why not just do some "random allotment" at the beginning for those wanting season tickets? Give priority to the "bigger games" and seating to upperclassmen. Then each student gets all their tickets prior to the season. Some games you will be in the lower deck, but others you may be in one of the higher decks. Makes sense to me, but I understand y'all do things differently.

it is. people bring out beer pong, xboxes, etc. it's a great experience, I had some really good times pulling.
still remember the time riot police had to come to disperse students when the texas basketball game pull got messed up.

oh i agree im sure the students find it fun. i dont think anyone disagrees with that.

sorry, just throwing my two cents in, I'm sure there could be other ways to do it but nothing is perfect. One thing that does suck is that you don't always get a great seat just because you're at the front of the line, it's kind of done randomly, I forget how exactly but I'm not a fan of that.

Because randomness doesn't ensure that the most hardcore fan gets the best seats. Random could mean that an international student from Turkey (no offense at all to Turkish international students--several of my best students were from that corner of the world, and they're great) ends up in 2nd deck, fifty yard line seats; when in reality, she doesn't care much about Aggie Football :).
Additionally, registration for classes has a hierarchy all its own. People register at various times, depending on when they enrolled (e.g., transfer students?), contextual issues related to individual colleges, etc.

All games are treated the same; but in essence, what you describe is how the system currently operates.

Then you're ahead of most folks outside of Aggieland.

Students have to wait in line for tickets? Is A&M ever going to join with the times and do that shite online?

That place will be rocking Saturday.

This falls in to the "From the outside you can't understand it, from the inside you can't explain it" category.
Yeah, that could be said for pretty much every aspect of Aggie life.

I definitely think the way they pull tickets build huge excitement for the game. It really is the pre tailgate party and when you get a good pull it really gets you fired up just that much more for the game.
As a Former Student there is no freaking way I would want to have any of that crap to deal with, the system for re-seating Kyle they just went through was about as technology driven and easy as it could possibly be. For students though, it's just a blast. If you aren't into it that's ok too, your seats are still better than at most schools. If you are though, it can make an already special game that much cooler.
I know me and my buddies in the Corps (before the idiocy of Corps Block) got Front Row 2nd Deck seats for the Texas game my Senior year and we promptly beat the crap out of them. The whole week was just a special experience and it took some real creativity to make the campout work with our Corps obligations (had to have some girlfriends that could help). Camping out for tickets is not only fun, it also brings the student body together in your love for Aggie Football.

They don't have to.
But they choose to.
We put 30,000+ students in Kyle.
Ticket pull starts on Monday (seniors) and wraps up when freshman pull on Thursdays.
If they want a ticket, they wait in line.
Trust me ... our ticket office has the process down to an art.
so they pull seniors to start the week and pull frosh to end the week. the jar is getting full by gametime

Sounds pretty rad to me.

Another thing about it is that all students that bought a sports pass have a card that is swiped when tickets are pulled, but only one person in the group going to the game has to actually be there to get the tickets. I think 1 person can pull 10 tickets, so not all 30,000 students have to wait in line.

nothing bad happened, it was just every class pulled at once and they weren't prepared for it so it got cancelled and redone later in the week I believe
