Draft Evals for Ewers have little to do with his health…

Lower draft evaluations for Ewers just makes Sarks playcalling look better and Matthew Golden’s draft stock skyrocket…

Joel Buchsbaum

I heard a lot of that raspy voice growing up. My dad loved his takes. The difference is he wasn’t lazy in his analysis.

Nowadays it’s harder to tell who is being lazy, you have to really pick through it more, since almost everyone has a platform to give opinions now.

Buchsbaum was a serious man. So many “analysts” today are unserious yahoos with cell phones.

I'd be more worried about QE getting sacked by NFL defenses and not sure a dude doing this for 5 years is the one to follow. Not saying QE is going to be an NFL starter either.

Brock Purdy was literally not that many picks from not being drafted and Trey Lance was drafted in the top 5. When it comes to QB evaluations as it relates to the draft, it's a crap shoot as to who's going to do what. It's one of the most, if not the most, unpredictable positions in football. So someone saying not to draft Ewers was probably the same person who said take Trey Lance in the top 5 and don't draft Purdy.

Not only is rating college QB talent for the pro game extremely difficult; but, where all those QBs end up is a huge factor in their success. If Tom Brady had ended up in any of a number of places besides NE when he did we might not have ever heard of him.

Tom Brady got similar assessments but he ended up doing ok.

Brady had a heck of an arm and was prototypical size.

Ya it’s hard to tell. People who get paid a lot money to evaluate QBs get it wrong all the time. Idk how he will shake out but would prol be a safe mid-late round pick. Helps this years class is pretty weak.

Flat out, Ewers is the least accurate quarterback I have charted since I started doing this in 2020.

Some teams might love Ewers for simply finding his checkdowns and getting the ball out quickly. He will never bite off more than he can chew. The issue is that he cannot even chew very much.

His willingness to step up into pockets frequently compromised the integrity of his offensive tackles, his arm just doesn’t have juice, and Ewers just isn’t seeing schemed open shots no matter how easy Sarkisian made life on him

Ewers is going to get drafted on his name alone. But he probably shouldn’t be. He’s the shell of a quarterback at this point.

Seems like a perfect Saints first round pick.

It was pretty clear Sark was play calling so that more than 2 out of every 3 passes he threw was an easy throw to a wide open receiver… usually 2-3 yds from the line of scrimmage …part of that is just his playcalling… but there’s no doubt it was overly conservative and intentional with Ewers… idk if it was mostly the injury or just necessary to call the game to his strengths and weaknesses… my guess is mostly the former, partly the latter

You seem weirdly defensive about this. Either you are the author or have some latent homosexuality. I don't know, maybe both?

Not judging though, whatever floats your boat.

Have no idea what that guy looks like. His bio is on reception perception with no pic. Never had any inclination to look it up.

Like I said dude, I'm not judging you. You like what you like. Not illegal or anything.

Lost all credibility here. Especially considering Ewers was fighting an abdominal injury during the season.

The point stands. Only fans of loser programs get all bent out of shape over what their old QB does in the pros. Like Kentucky fans.
