That was absolutely fantastic prose. A tip of the hat to you, however I feel inclined to respond:
As the game came forth the Rebels recalled,
A program of worth, they are not at all,
And then, henceforth, as kickoff began,
The realization that they’re an also-ran,
Since the days of segregation the Rebels have not,
Achieved success akin to the SEC lot,
But still, alas, a lesson unlearned,
The Rebels talk shite like a lover thrice spurned!
On Saturday eve fate shall be decided,
And the Tiger faithful shall be delighted,
The scoreboard will leave the Rebels pissed,
They will scowl and mutter “We are Ole Miss.”

And a sonnet for good measure:
Once Tigers ruled, a force of feared renown,
Now stumble meek, their pride laid low and spent.
'Gainst Ole Miss’ might, they falter and fall down,
A once-proud roar, now muted in lament.
Their fans, who boast of triumphs long ago,
Now cling to faded dreams of what once shone.
Yet when defeat arrives, they're first to show
Their fickle hearts, quick to cast every stone.
They sneer and jeer, claim victories not earned,
Pretending still that greatness is their right.
But recent games have shown how far they've turned,
From champions' grace to shadows in the night.
Ole Miss ascends while Tigers mourn their fate,
Their fans reduced to rue and empty prat

In time, five years is not so far,
For Ole Miss to talk shite is quite bizarre,
I’m afraid it’s been since ‘63,
For such a celebration to be celebrated by thee!

ABAB and iambic pentameter or GTFO

While this is a well written poem, it does not employ iambic pentameter. Also, I can use an AA BB rhyme scheme if I want.

There once was a team from Ole Miss,
whose season was promised of bliss, but Death Valley awaited and we knew it was fated that the rebs would again swing and miss.

Make that a haiku and it'll be pretty good.

The fans were in bliss.
Top 10 ranking? How lucky!
Oh wait, they lost to Kentucky.
This would have been good a week ago but we're back in the top 10.

To be fair, it was Kennedy's time, not Eisenhower. You can't even get the insult right.
