7-3 or 8-2.
No sane person watched that game and thought the difference was home field advantage. The team that was a lot better won by a lot.

Can't tell if he's stupid or just a particularly unentertaining troll.
Could be both, I guess.

Kentucky was playing much better then. Don't know what happened to them since they almost beat Georgia then beat us a week later.
LSU played us without our best players.
Both needed to execute on some highly improbable plays at the ends of the games.
So I think that's your recipe: Play well enough that you could beat Georgia, hope for some midweek injuries, and then execute in some extremely difficult spots at the end.
Should be easy.

Florida is an extremely good team now. I really don't see how we can beat them.
If it does turn out, though, that Ole Miss is actually good enough to beat this Florida team, we should easily lock up the five seed in the playoff. With how good Florida is now, that would be one of the best wins anyone in the country has had all season.

I'm not making too much of that. Could easily just be celebrating for his buddy figuring out what he wants to do. It's also not like he'd be the only Auburn fan enjoying the fact that a Bama commit flipped.

I wonder how much that one series impacted recruiting this week. It's one thing to sell a program that is currently good but sending all its talent to the NFL shortly. It's another to get an opportunity to demonstrate the future they're going to be part of.

And a sonnet for good measure:
Once Tigers ruled, a force of feared renown,
Now stumble meek, their pride laid low and spent.
'Gainst Ole Miss’ might, they falter and fall down,
A once-proud roar, now muted in lament.
Their fans, who boast of triumphs long ago,
Now cling to faded dreams of what once shone.
Yet when defeat arrives, they're first to show
Their fickle hearts, quick to cast every stone.
They sneer and jeer, claim victories not earned,
Pretending still that greatness is their right.
But recent games have shown how far they've turned,
From champions' grace to shadows in the night.
Ole Miss ascends while Tigers mourn their fate,
Their fans reduced to rue and empty prat

This sort of implies an expectation that at some point in your life you'll have the thought, "man, I'd really like to take just this one, but I'd better not since I won't be able to undo it."

I actually agree with this. Will be a huge embarrassment if you guys don't win. Would probably kill any hope of making the playoff.

And often has, which is why Lane does it.
Find an example of us doing it before the 2nd half of that Tennessee game, then go back and watch the first half.

Yeah, some folks with short memories need to go back and rewatch that game. That's where the whole Ole Miss faking injuries thing started, and I defy anyone to find a single example of us doing it in the first half of that game or in any game prior to that one.
Tennessee was faking injuries all over the place, and so we came out in the second half and did the same thing but over the top. It started out as a pretty obvious Kiffin troll job, and we've been doing it ever since waiting on someone to change the dang rules.
Go find anywhere Lane has been asked about it, and he has basically a canned response. Something along the lines of "It's a serious problem in college football and we need a rule to prevent it."

re: Has NIL actually changed the landscape of recruiting or just revealed reality?

I think the biggest difference will be for the NCAA whipping boys like Ole Miss. In the past, whenever we've played the same game as Bama and Georgia and started to get some momentum, the NCAA has used us to make an example so they could pretend they had some integrity. Now that it's above board, you're going to see those programs making some moves they weren't allowed to make in the past.
re: Congratulations to these SEC programs. Well done!

My favorite Ole Miss bowl stat right now is that over the last 10 years, we have made it to a bowl game only 60% of the time, but 4 of those 6 have been NY6 bowls.
2014 - Peach
2015 - Sugar

2020 - Outback

2022 - Texas
2023 - Peach
If you go back another 11 years to 2003 and it's a similar story, just with the highs not as high.
I don't think there's a more up and down program in college sports history.

You have to fire a man not smart enough to come up with a plausible lie in that scenario.
Should have been as easy as "we work together, and we're friends. She'd never been on a motorcycle before so I gave her a ride."
Nobody has to truly believe it. It just needs to be plausible enough for the folks who matter to pretend to believe it.
Presumably he's older, wiser, and a better liar now. Give him his money and win some games.
