I never heard that last year or this year, but it seemed last Saturday that MSU was getting to the edge quickly, but couldn't get up field due to bad blocking.

MSU rushed for 47 yards on 21 attempts or 2.23 yards per rush.

For the year, Bama is allowing 1.93 yards per rush.(#1 Rushing Defense)

Please feel free to attempt as many rushes as you would like.

This.

The repetition of this claim was when I truly realized how ignorant some LSU posters on this board are about football.

Trying to remember the last time Miles and Co. used something creative to move the ball. Sure a trick play well timed here and there but nothing earth shattering. So, I expect much of the same. Mett will have to recognize the blitz and his receivers will have to catch the ball. If Bama shuts down the running game like they did in January LSU is fawked.

Defensively, LSU will have to go full beast mode and frustrate Bama. Possible, but as said above, if it results in 3 and outs by our offense it will be ugly in the 4th quarter for us.

I think LSU needs a defensive score early in the game to win. Take just a hair of pressure off the offense. Maybe loosen em up a bit.

1). Watching the Bama game against Grinder State, I realized a strength that we can put to use on Offense. It seemed like early in the game, State ran the ball effectively from the gun, with an extra blocker on the line. We have a few players whose strengths are built for that style of play. I think that is our ticket to an early score. Bama is not as fast laterally as they have been the past few years.

I have a quick question. How many yards rushing did MSU have during the entire game?

You do realize that LSU almost always runs the ball effectively against your GoD defense. Jan.9th was the exception. Every other game we've been effective running the ball down your throats. But continue to believe that Bama has always stopped LSU from running the ball.

I don't even know what you are getting at here. Why even mention the option? You are confusing ...

Doesn't matter. Yall jumped them on Offense and went up early. They quit. Couldn't block at all after you all started the raping of their D. Our line can actually block, as well as our receivers.

Agree, Les has got to come out with something different. Play loose and try to score with the O. Hoping for special team or D score is awful strategy. Conservative is new for Les and it is not working.

Hopefully we will. Despite your arrogance, I think you realize that this is a huge game that will be hard fought on both side. I don't get why you are acting like you are on the team or something. Can the mouth Uncle Rico, nobody was being an uptight arse until you picked up the role.

ETA: Conservative is NOT new for Les. Educate yourself on how LSU has consistently run the ball in questionable situations since Les has been around, especially in the last four years. Hard not to be conservative with the lack of QB talent

Last year LSU didn't have any success with the "traditional" power running game. In the first game they had success after JJ came in with some options/outside running with Ford. The inside game went nowhere (Ware had 16 carries for 29 yards). And then obviously they had no success anywhere in the BCS game.

If that holds through this year (who knows, maybe they'll have some success with inside power plays this year) then they need to figure out ways to get Ford (and Hill) to the edge without running the option.

Surely you know that if those are true Saban and staff has been preparing for it for weeks if not months.

If you do the same thing that State did then you will get beat. You need to make changes that Saban hadn't thought of, if you can.

You GUNTS act like this isn't rushing the ball. JJ has been running the option for 4 years at LSU. The " Saban wasn't prepared for it" arguement holds no water. I guess he wasn't prepared for GSU( who only run the triple option) to run the option either.

Passive aggressive, nice. Good luck, should be good game, they usually are. Would love to see a game decided late.

Obviously that is not the only thing, but if there even IS a weakness on that D, this is it. The secondary and DL are incredibly talented. A 3 WR set out of the gun would benefit
LSU in my opinion.

that was a hilariously touchy response

Link?

And seriously, GUNTS?

Didn't bring this up fwiw. Although obviously we were better prepared in the second game.

The whole point is that the option, and the threat of the option, was a big part of LSU's success running the ball last year, and that's gone now. But like I said, LSU could still figure out ways to get Ford to the edge without running the option. It certainly wasn't a flame post.
