Am I correct in understanding that the SEC-Network will only be on AT&T Uverse?

There is no way that can be correct.

You are in fact incorrect.

as of right now but there is little doubt the SECN is going to get picked up by several more providers.

The advertisement they ran during the LSU/Ole Miss game stated on the bottom "available only on AT&T Uverse"

You could be correct as of right now.

An agreement is already in place with AT&T U-verse to distribute the Network. ESPN is working hard to ensure that the Network will be available via cable, satellite and telco distributors (such as Comcast, Time Warner Cable, DirecTV, DISH Network, AT&T U-verse, Cox and Verizon FiOS). ESPN will continue negotiating with the other distributors in the coming months. Your cable, satellite, or telco provider makes programming decisions based on customer requests. As a fan of the Southeastern Conference, please support the SEC Network by calling your cable, satellite or telco provider and requesting the SEC Network.

I'm sure they put that there just to get people to call their providers and get them to add it. AT&T doesn't have exclusive rights.

as of right now, yes. but there is no way this isn't picked up by every major carrier by the time it launches

It will really suck if charter or DirecTV don't get sec network. Most of the Birmingham area doesn't have att uverse
ETA: that would also suck for ESPN since this is one of the largest markets for college football.

I hate DirecTV and their exclusive contract with the NFL. If you don't live in the city where you favorite team resides, you'll be lucky to see more than 2-3 games each season unless you buy all of DirecTV's junk. As a result, my interest in the NFL has waned, considerably.
I'm not a fan of AT&T either (I have Uverse). I'm anxiously awaiting the day when Google Fiber is available.

It's all about negotiation. I've heard Dish is very close to signing and once that happens the rest will fall. It's a big game of chicken where both sides are trying to get what they want but in the end this is a high demand network that would actually cause people to switch providers if it isn't available.

Dish and DirecTV have probably already agreed to sign, they're just trying to get you to beg for it so they can throw a hefty price on it or something I don't know or care.

Time Warner will likely be the last one to agree to anything. They always drag their feet.

You are correct. We had an AT&T guy going door to door in my neighborhood yesterday. In talking with him he told me that AT&T Uverse purchased the rights for 20 years at $186,000,000.
Not saying it will stay that way but as of now they are the only ones that I know of that will have it.
