Dalton Hilliard LSU,rushing for 901 yards and 11 TDs and adding five more scores receiving in 1982. His 16 total TDs and 92 points broke the NCAA freshman records that had been set two years earlier by Herschel Walker.

I will re-evaluate if Gurley wins the Doak Walker as a sophomore, becoming the 2nd sophomore to ever win the award.

As of now, Dmac over Gurley as a true freshman.

So we all understand your argument. DMAC wins the Doak Walker award his Sophomore year, so that automatically makes his freshman year more impressive?

I challenge you to re-read this statement. When you're finished, consider looking into higher education.

Here would be my Arkansas nominations

OT Shawn Andrews- Started from day one. Probably one of the best tackles the SEC has ever had. Dominated people as a true freshman earning All SEC his first season and a 2 time All American.

CB- Ahmad "Batman" Carroll- 1st team All SEC his true freshman season. 47 tackles, 14 pass break ups(2nd in SEC)

RB- Darren McFadden- An honorable mention All American, Consensus FR All American, 1st team All SEC, SEC freshman newcomer of the year, 103.8 yds per game, 5-100 yd games, 137.5 all purpose per game, 1,538 total yards, AP SEC Freshman of the year.

Game by Game stats for McFadden
Missouri State: 9/70 1 td
Vanderbilt: 1/6
@Southern Cal: 13/88
@Alabama: 8/95 1 td
ULM: 11/125 2 td
Auburn: 13/108 2 td
@Georgia: 31/190 2 td
South Carolina: 32/187
@Ole Miss: 13/22
Miss State: 21/165 2 td

Not what I said.

I am telling you that Darren McFadden was a better freshman than Gurley.

You dont seem to be having any of that though, just because of yards.

There were 31 running backs in NCAA in 2005 that had more yards than McFadden. Does that mean they were all better? Of course not.

Using your logic, I assume you think they all were better.

Lets also not forget that McFadden only had 11 games to do his damage in. Not 12 regular season, an sec championship and a bowl game.

Andrew Whitworth started every game his freshmen season. So I would definitely put him in.

Bo was pretty comparable. More yards per carry and nearly as many TDs with 50 less carries.

ETA: Nevermind. White had a redshirt year...

Guess you may have to consider Takeo Spikes at MLB. He didn't start until mid season, but he played a lot earlier in the season off the bench then was named a starter mid-season and proceeded to whip a lot of arse.

Not sure there will be a better candidate for MLB as a true freshman than Takeo.

I don't know how many true freshman centers have started in the SEC.. So maybe Reese Dismukes by default. He held his own.

McFadden also only played in 11 games (really 10 since he only had 1 carry in 1 of those 11), not 14. Lets not act like he had the talent around him or the QB Gurley does. Dmack was Arkansas offense in big games, teams lined up to stop him and most of time couldn't

Just look at Dmacks game against UGA in 2005.

Naw. Road win @LSU was nice, numbers were ok that season, but I'd go a different route at QB. I love all that he did as a Gator, but he was frustrating until the BCSNCG.
