Alshon Jeffrey for WR for South Carolina?

quote:

Jeffery caught five passes for 61 yards in his first five games before making seven catches for 138 yards and three touchdowns against the University of Kentucky.[4] The performance was the second-best single game performance in school history and Jeffery became the third Gamecock in 2009 to earn SEC Freshman of the Week, following defensive end Devin Taylor and running back Jarvis Giles.[4] He was a consensus first-team Freshman All-SEC and first-team Freshman All-American.

Or AJ Green UGA

quote:

He finished the 2008 season with 56 catches for 963 yards and 8 touchdowns, all Georgia freshman school records. He also led the SEC in receiving yards, with the third-highest total in UGA school history. He was named second-team All-SEC and Freshman of the Year by the SEC coaches, and was named to the Associated Press All-SEC first team.

You need two tailbacks. I have 2

Herschel and Gurley. You should also add the team next to the names for pride purposes when this is all said and done. No

Also, you have to put Manzeil in for QB No

Gurley had the most rushing yards by a true freshman since Jamal Lewis in '97 I think.

Lewis 97- 1364
Gurley 2012- 1385

Herschel Walker: 1980
274 carries / 1,616 yds, 5.9y/c 15 TD
7 rec. / 71 yds, 1 TD

He has to be on the list, because everyone knew what UGA was going to do and they still couldn't stop him.

Also, you can take Leak off that list, he wasn't that good as a freshman and never reached his potential at Florida.

I thought of Justin Vincent who was SECCG MVP and NCG MVP his freshman year, but I'm pretty sure he was redshirted.

Gotta submit Tyrann Mathieu at CB

quote:

Ranked first in the SEC and fifth nationally with five forced fumbles and tied for first in the conference in fumble recoveries with three ... Led the team with seven pass breakups ... Fourth on the team in tackles with 57 ... Was an absolute playmaker on the season with 8.5 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, seven pass breakups, five forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and two interceptions ... Earned Cotton Bowl Defensive Most Outstanding Player award after the best game of his young career in which he recorded seven tackles, one tackle for loss, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, one interception, one sack and one pass breakup

Julio and Green.

Edit: Actually Amari Cooper may have had a better year than both of them. Also, anyone other than Herschel is wrong at RB.

Plus Hershel had 150 rushing yds & 2 td's in the Sugar Bowl that aren't added to his offical 1616yds(Bowl ydg wasn't counted til '86)

Run DMC was all Arkansas had. Everyone and their momma knew who was getting the ball. Arkansas didn't have a veteran QB to take the pressure off a newbie RB.

His schedule that year was also arguably tougher than Gurley this year. Gurley isn't McFadden.

But he played in all 13 games, and actually did start one of them. It's tough to find true freshmen starters on defense in the SEC. I haven't found any from UGA since I've been looking in the past few minutes.

I don't think you are going to find a better true freshman cb from the SEC than honeybadger.

Gurley over RunDMC? I don't think so

Why not?

Gurley
222 carries
1,385 yards
6.2 avg
17 tds
1 KO TD

McFadden
176 carries
1,113 yards
6.3 avg
11 tds
2 KO TD

Call me a homer, but Gurley helped guide UGA to 12-2 record, while Arky went 4-7 in Run DMC Freshman year. Don't get me wrong, DMAC was one of the best RB in SEC history, but you can't just dismiss the statistical comparison between the two.

From LSU the guys who probably have the best case are Tyrann Mathieu at CB, Laron Landry at Safety (led Nick Saban's defense in tackles as a true freshman) and Ben Wilkerson at Center.

DMAC didn't give 800 of his yards to Keith Marshall either.

Yea, he had Peyton Hillis and Felix Jones in the same backfield.

I will re-evaluate if Gurley wins the Doak Walker as a sophomore, becoming the 2nd sophomore to ever win the award.

As of now, Dmac over Gurley as a true freshman.
