don't stress or develop a good defense?

I mean, I remember when (and it wasn't that long ago) more years than not OU had a good defense, and sometimes very good.

What's up with that? No trash talking intended. Just curious.

They don't recruit well enough, and the few good recruits they do get are on the offensive side of the ball. They've win a shitty Big 12 in spite of this and beat an 8-5 Auburn team in the Sugar Bowl, so they convince themselves the only program that's better them in the entire country the past 4 years is Alabama.

And I'm not joking.

Don't need to when the only other program in your conference worth much of a damn over the long run is currently in rebuilding mode. They're essentially very provincial.

Bama gave up 34 points and almost 500 yards.

What has that got to do with Oklahoma's defense? I mean, do you think it was a close game?

no doubt anyone would love to have Bama's problems.

Just saying it's not as if Bama played a stellar defensive game.

I didn't intend it to be a trash talking thread. We have plenty of those today. I was curious about what OU fans think of it. I certainly don't mind the opinions of other teams fans, but can we not have a trash talk thread this time?

What does Bama have to do with OUs lack of defense?

It's the only kind of threads Auburn fans know how to be in. If you want a serious conversation, don't look to west Georgia.

Oklahoma has a very good offense.

There was no way Alabama was going to stop them from getting some points on the board.

But I am with the OP. It seemed like OU had no defense against whatever Alabama gave them. With the rest of the Big 12 down, you would think they would be hoovering up really good defensive talent.

But damn, it seemed like most third downs were automatic.

I wasn't trash talking. I brought some stats to the conversation. To help it progress. Why are Bama fans so defensive?

Not defensive...just that your post had literally nothing to do with the thread and that's confusing.

We did the first quarter and that is what put the game away early. OU is too good on offense to shut them down the entire game.

Riley fired Stoops' brother the DC during the season. Time will tell, but I'd expect you'll see progress once his people/recruits kick in.

I'm hoping Riley gets an NFL gig, I think he's the real deal.

They can't afford to rent both offensive and defensive players

This is the honest truth ... OU has known opfor years their defense sucked. Loyalty to Bob Stoop is the reason. Riley took the first step in firing Mike. We just couldn’t switch defense in mid season without a new coach. No time and they felt it wasn’t the time. We will be okay... the defense will get better and then we can get closer to the NC. Offensively we are as good as it gets. Defensively we are as bad as it gets. We have to get closer to being a complete team.
