That Bama oline is big and all, but there were times when Tua was running for his life last year. I hope the praise from Coach Saban is justified and we see an improved product on the field this year.

Size-wise...it reminds me of Tennessee's starting OL in 2005.

OT - Aaron Sears - 6-4, 338
OG - Ramon Foster - 6-6, 340
C Richie Gandy - 6-5, 312
OG - Cody Douglas - 6-4, 330
OT - Albert Toeaina - 6-6, 355
TE - Brad Cottam - 6-8, 263

That team started out the season #3, and ended up 5-6. They were big and couldn't make blocks on the second level...they were just too slow. When Cutcliffe took over the offense the next year, the first thing he did was get the OL to lose weight to get more mobile and flexible.

Not saying Bama's offense will be like that...but bigger certainly wasn't better for UT that season.

Meh, I remember when Arkansas fans were going on and on about the size of their OLine. Didn't really matter much.

Correct it only mattered when we played Big12 type teams with 270lb D linemen. If you got 300 pounders at DT it’s hard to move them

OLinemen just keep getting bigger. A&M this year:

Green 6'6, 315 (3rd year JR, was a 285 pound 3*, but has already started 17 games at A&M)
Green 6'4, 330 (true Freshman, high 5*, high elite recruit)
Moore 6'5, 325 (3rd year JR, was a 315 pound 3*, has already started 14 games at A&M)
Hocker 6'5, 323 (3rd year JR, was a 295 pound 3*, started the first 8 games last year before ending his year by injury in the State game)
McCollum 6'5 305 (4th year JR, 270 pound 3*, 14 starts at A&M, won the spring MVP award)

Apparently it means not understanding what the word commitment means:

On another hot topic, Miles admitted he doesn’t know what he could have done differently in the recruitment of Matt Womack, an early enrollee signee who signed a Financial Aid Agreement but then decommitted from LSU, leading to sanctions being handed down to the school from the NCAA. Womack landed at Alabama.

quote:

“We signed a guy who committed to us, to come to us,” Miles said. “Then he decided, really in his home, that he was thinking about not taking the English course that was going to allow him to come early to LSU. At that point in time, we went back to our compliance officers and they said ‘Cease and desist on recruiting him.’ So we couldn’t even call or recruit the guy. So he went to another school, which is punishment enough. Anyway ... I didn’t quite know how to handle it any differently than we did.”

Don't forget Cornbread will be back after 4 games. Dude is 6-4 340. Also the transfer from FSU Landon Dickerson is getting some work...6'6 308.

We'll see how it all works out. Doesn't always mean they'll be good as a unit. That's the most important part. I remember UGA under Richt had an O line that was bigger than most NFL lines but they didn't really perform.

Most SEC O-Lines are this size, We'll see how they hold up without a tight end in the mix.

your team should have no problem scoring on Bama this year.. right?

LSU hasn't been shut out in Bryant-Denny Stadium yet (although the Tigers have shut out Alabama in BDS).

So I don't see why that trend wouldn't continue.

No, and it doesn’t mean they’re good in this case either.

They are good though, and they happen to be huge, which is an ingredient in why they’re good. Most of them are just gifted linemen

And I'm not as impressed with star ratings on offensive lineman

I’m sure you aren’t. You wouldn’t be excited if LSU landed a 5 star offensive linemen. There’s a reason we’ve creamed your arse for 8 years running. Your offensive line has been soft as cotton against us.

Watched part of the replay of the Clemson game last night. The OL got their arse whipped and the reason Tua performed poorly.

Can’t say you’re wrong here. It’s actually the MAIN reason y’all beat us. It’s kinda sad to watch sometimes but I think we’ll be better this year.

Star ratings seem very hit or miss with Oline.
