What's up with that!

Sounds like Vegas needs more action on Clemson and OU right now to achieve their optimal 50/50 split. Nothing more nothing less.

Vegas saw tua in practice, bama moving to -17

It's all about money. This is not a true indicator of who is favored.

That's a shallow answer, elposter. WHY are the 2 "best" teams in college football the underdogs, AND are being bet against by the gamblers?

It kinda is an indicator. The people in Vegas think Alabama will win in a close game.

How did that work out for you in the IB. Vegas knows that the Bama Nation will bet the house on any Bama game.

Alabama is historically a favorite of bettors, sometimes too much so.
People probably have some concerns with OU and their Big XII defense matching up with Georgia.
Also these are really close lines, virtually pickems, and these are the 4 best teams in the country so none of this seems very surprising to me.

No team is invincible, but if you play the percentages, the favored teams win far more times than the underdog. Congrats to Auburn for beating the odds this year....

But Vegas gets the line close enough to correct enough times that people buy it as truth.

The public money's frequently behind the curve. They're confused by the hype train caused by the last decade of SEC success.

This is how it is typically interpreted but I would guess that more bets have been placed on Clemson and OU up to this point. Vegas might be using a bit of reverse logic to make betters believe that they have insight and that Bama and Georgia will actually win the games and cover the minimal point spread.

So people bet against a team they think will win???

As Lee Corso always says, the folks in the dessert know something I don't know. The whole world thinks Clemson is the better team, yet they make Bama the favorite. I say Bama wins.
