No one said it was. But now that's about to be 2 of the last 5 with another program (Clemson) also having won 2 of those last 5... and THEY are playing in the Playoff again while Bama goes to Orlando.

Again, proof the dynasty at the national level is indeed over.

I don’t know. Making the playoffs 5 times, finals 4, winning two isn’t exactly signs of an end. A lot will depend on next year. We win it all then the talk is moot. If we don’t then I believe you can point to this year as it being done. We didn’t win it in 2013 or 2014 and people said it was over. Then we went on another run.

I think we're talking about two different things. By "signs of the end", are you talking about the end of a strong run? Obviously Bama is still near the top and there's no reason to believe its over or about to be over.

But we're talking DYNASTY. A dynasty is most certainly not in play when you've won:

0 out of the past 2 National Titles
1 out of the last 3 National Titles
1 out of the last 4 National Titles
2 out of the last 5 National Titles
2 out of the last 6 National Titles
2 out of the last 7 National Titles

That is not a "Dynasty". Period. It's not even a discussion. Especially when there is another program that has enjoyed equal or more success in recent years.

Clemson is the defending National Champion. They've won 2 of the past 3 National Titles. And they are in control of their own destiny to possibly win 2 Consecutive and 3 of the previous 4.

You can't have two teams with Dynasties at the same time.... that would be like an oxymoron. It simply can't happen by definition. The team at the moment closest to a Dynasty is Clemson. One can argue whether they are in the midst of a dynasty or not, but its absurd to even consider that any other program besides them is.

I’m just curious why are you using 7 years? That seems random. Certainly Bama has had a great run and we shall see if they will. By any metric 5 out of the last 10 qualifies as a dynasty. 2 out of last 4 does too. In that 4 year span both Bama and Clemson have the same number of titles. I’m just curious as to why you are using 7 as your marker.

True. But the front bookend at that time was much stronger. Bama had won 3 of the previous 4 National Tiles from 2009-2012... so closely losing the next two was not as big of a deal. Plus there was no other program nationally winning more than one title at the time. AU won in '10, FSU won in '13, and OSU won in '14.

That's completely different than the situation Bama finds itself in now. First off you have Clemson which has clearly won as much or more hardware recently as Bama. That creates a big issue when trying to claim the Dynasty is in tact.

But Bama also doesn't have as strong of a bookend this go round to help excuse not winning these two most recent ones.... its not like you are coming off of winning 3 of the last 4 like you did prior to '13.

It’s really all subjective and how you define dynasty. I mean if Bama wins next year then it is bookend by the ones won prior, it would be 2015, 2017, 2020.

He uses whatever parameters support his argument best and ignores those that don't. Classic debate tactic.

Probably. I can just as very easy use the fact that since 2009 by the time the players have become seniors, they have won a national title at Bama. This group of seniors won it in 2017. That’s a trend that can continue. That can be used just as easily as his 7 years mark.

You all act like the Saban era is over at Bama. We just cleaned up in recruiting again and will be in the hunt for a title again

It's not random if its fact. Bama has won 2 Titles in 7 seasons. Fact.

Parts of it do. Which is why Bama clearly had a dynasty from 2009-2017. You won five titles in nine seasons. But it doesn't live on in perpetuity if you stop winning the trophies.

The Dynasty came to an end last season when Clemson won 2 out of 3. The fact that Bama failed to make the playoff this year and Clemson did only solidifies the fact that the dynasty is for sure over.

You can certainly start a new dynasty with another string of Championships, but it would be a new Dynasty IMO.

What can we say, other than it beats...

0 out of the past 2 National Titles
0 out of the last 3 National Titles
0 out of the last 4 National Titles
0 out of the last 5 National Titles
0 out of the last 6 National Titles
0 out of the last 7 National Titles
.
.
0 out of the last 39 National Titles

That right there, is Georgia Football.

I could say Bama has made 5 out of the last 6 playoffs, 3 out of the last 4 National Championships and won 5 out of the last 10 titles. That's a current dynasty that no other program can compare.

We'll go 8 seasons instead of your 7.

Alabama is #1 in composite ranking
Most National Championships
Most Finals Appearances
Most Playoff Appearances

But you think the dynasty is over?

No top 25 wins
Lost to LSU and Auburn
No championship of any kind

It's over.
