How about if you have to show your degree(s) to purchase memorabilia, apparel, or tickets ? Tv networks should only allow college broadcasts into verified graduate houses. Think of the money to be made !

I find it odd that people even care about it. I graduated from LSU in 1984. I have a friend that is a “sidewalk” fan that donates far more money than I do. Who is more vested ? I say he is. I went to school on scholarship, so I did not spend a lot of money at LSU.
By the way, I’m a packer fan and have never stepped foot in Wisconsin. Does that make me “sidewalk” fan?

If it were not for so called sidewalk fans, college football would be played on a club level. No TV. No Big stadiums. Nothing like we see today. The numbers simply would not be there to support it.

Definitely not as many bandwagon Bama fans in Georgia as there were 5-10 years ago. Don't see nearly as much Bama shite these days, thankfully.

I'll say it again. My best friend was an Auburn fan and never stepped foot in a classroom at Auburn. I have a degree from Alabama. So do you think I should tell him he's not a true fan. GTFO! You can be a fan of whomever you want. This whole thing always reeks of a smug attitude that "I'm better than you and I have more of a right to be a fan because of it!" There is probably someone out there who never finished high school but built his own business and is a millionaire and is a fan of Alabama and donates money to the athletic department and/or school in some fashion and I'm happy to have his/her support.

Based on social media engagement, the Golden State Warriors have the most fans in the U.S. The Dallas Cowboys are number two.

Most people were sidewalk fans at some point. A person grows upa fan of XYZ school or becomes a personal fan as a younger person. Then they go to that school. Only super high academic schools have people who suddenly became fans when they got accepted/attended the school.
As to the quesiton. Yeah, we have a lot of fans who never attended the school. Don't know how it compares to other schools. Have no problem with it.

During the Saban years I saw a LARGE number of UT fans up here literally bye bama gear and switch. Then when UT got decent again they switched back. A LARGE number
