In Athens, Alabama incurred 16 penalty yds. Georgia had 68. In the SECCG, Alabama had 5 penalty yds. Georgia had 80. Both Bama numbers were well below their season average while Georgia's numbers were well above theirs.

Since Bama apparently never has "no-calls" vs Georgia, it seems appropriate to belatedly congratulate them for playing those two pressure packed games, away and neutral venues, in almost complete compliance with the rules of NCAA football. If the penalty numbers had been reversed, it seems doubtful Alabama would've had the opportunity to be embarrassed by Indiana.

Yeah, amazing huh. I've noticed that Bama is frequently on their best behavior against Georgia. Yesterday too, except for that last penalty against Lee.

To be fair Bama won in athens last year because Simpson played the game of his life and they were something insane like 15-17 on third downs not the penalty's.

But I get the point of the OP

If we were being fair, Georgia won yesterday because they thoroughly ouplayed Alabama. Gunner Stockton played like a Heisman candidate, Keelon Russell did not. But Herbstreit and Fowler set the tone by suggesting otherwise.

There are missed calls that could've changed the outcome both ways in every 3 point football game ever played. So I'm not sure you do get the point.

I agree with all of this 100%

You made an OP about last seasons game though

That's correct, because I'm pointing that this Alabama posturing about Georgia getting favoritism from the officials is BS. They've had their share of favorable officiating vs Georgia and every other opponent, including last season's 3 point victory in Athens. And the PI call from yesterday wasn't the only one missed. I've rewatched the game and there were multiple important missed calls on both sides.

Again, in total agreement with you.

The officiating was pretty atrocious all around.

The most egregious non call of holding by Bama of the entire game is the one play where Russel threw his only TD. Their center literally grabs our guy playing the 3 technique by the neck and drags him the ground. I am sure there is video of it out there.

The one where Williams took a hard hit that bama fans are up in arms about wanting a targeting on Bolden though I totally object to. The refs made the correct call there, Bolden did not hit him in a way that violates the targeting rule

Is this a victory melt?

It feels like it.

If that's what you like to call it, fine with me. I'm responding to Bama fans "melting" over officiating, when they had fewer penalties and yards, and they also had missed calls that could've helped Georgia. We hear this stuff every year from teams like Auburn, Florida, Tennessee, even Georgia Tech, so it's just another football game with losing fans making excuses.

Kirby tried to be extra physical vs bama he basically tells you that during every interview. Deboer isn’t really that style which could point the losses but either way extra physical likely to cause more flags.

I've heard all the excuses for why someone got screwed against Georgia. But when I rewatch the games, I still see missed calls on both sides.

Stockton deserves his flowers but everyone that watched the game knows that the refs affected the outcome, which sucks.

Honestly, the game never felt like Bama was truly going to win at any point. You could see GA was always going to make play

This is a natty team 100%

Stockton and Georgia's offensive line affected the outcome. The refs did not because they helped Alabama as much as they helped Georgia. But if you really believe that you can make that kind of call based on yesterday's officiating, then you should go back to 2017, watch the Championship game and admit that Kirby's due another title.

Georgia outplayed you objectively. Outside of your QB’s freak athleticism; half a dozen incredible scrambles, avoiding the rush and making some great throws, and a handful of good runs by your tailbacks. It’s really not close. They looked like the better team.

You couldn’t get a pass rush to save your life and UGA’s o line mauled your run D when they had to. A 175 pound scatback gashed you all night

It is ridiculous to still be victory melting because you got a bad no call in your favor. UGA won the game at the LOS. It’s OK to admit it was a gift. Dawgs still deserved the win. Quit being so insecure about it.

I've already admitted the PI was a "no-call". Now I'm waiting on you to admit that your teams' "no-calls" had just as much impact in your favor. And then we'll be back to talking about how Georgia actually won the football game, with superior execution.

. Well in this thread, you are melting about multiple games from previous seasons. Let it go. I get the win feels a little tainted because everyone is calling out that bad play. I don’t get why Dawg fans are invested so much in it. Enjoy the win and grow up.

I don't think they got a holding call once last night. Maybe they didn't ever hold. Well, aside from Chris Cole having a lineman clothesline him as he was trying to get to the QB once.

Officiating sucks in the SEC and we've all had to deal with it many times where it cost us.

Remember the SECCG in 2023? Remember the long pass third down conversion that was never caught but never reviewed. Bama scored a TD near the end of the half on that drive. Could've been the difference in the game.
