Right now Auburn is for sure a more talented team. Bad shooting nights, turnovers, missed FT's can help with some Bama wins but its going to take us a few years to be NCAA worthy. People dont understand the depth of which Grant left Bama in. He basically didn't even recruit his last 3 seasons and didn't care what the consequences were. He was doing every thing but flat out asking to be fired. He got his money and got to get out of a football first school.

I would not be surprised by any outcome. Bama wins big, Auburn wins big, close low scoring game, close high scoring game, etc.
Two really unpredictable teams.

I think we are all confident we are not confident at all. At least both teams seem to be on the right track with coaching/recruiting.

Kanty blows up on 3s on Bama because we repeatedly get sucked into the paint and leave their best man wide open.
Obasahan gets love from the announcers for speaking 4 different languages
Kessens stands there like a statue while someone blows past him for an easy lay up.
Both teams get horrendous calls because SEC officials suck in CBB. Whoever loses will blame the officials
Alabama will miss a plethora of free throws.

With the exception of his final season, this is just plain untrue.
Devonta Pollard was a 5* ESPN top 100 recruit.
Shannon Hale and Jimmie Taylor were both 4* ESPN top 100 recruits.
Recruiting talent is probably the thing Grant did best. Where he failed terribly was in a) Keeping that talent on campus (see Tony Mitchell, Trevor Lacy, Nick Jacobs, Charles Hankerson, and Devonta Pollard) and b) Developing the talent. Every single player that left went on to have productive careers at either the college or pro level. The only exception, and the only one that can't be attributed to Grant is Pollard.
I'd also disagree on the talent comparison. Auburn is one of the few teams in the SEC that doesn't have a clear talent advantage on Alabama. If Canty can't go or is significantly limited, IMO they'll be playing from a pretty significant talent deficit.

Have you watched us? We have two walk-ons getting a good bit of playing time. If we had everyone I might agree with you, but this is a completely different team.

All I hope for is for this game to be a more intriguing and "can't miss" matchup in the future. Both Pearl and Avery Johnson have highly touted recruits coming in and have done a fairly well job with what they're dealing with.

But Harris and Canty are both legitimate all-conference type big conference players.
We are counting on a guy that averaged 4 pts a game last year at New Mexico to be our offensive catalyst.

I'm expecting a total shitshow personally. Emotions will be high which will lead to even more turnovers. Bowers goes full retard at least 4 times. I expect Hale to have a pretty good game. Harris excels at scoring but is very underwhelming defensively. And Canty is a little Jekyll and Hyde. If he's on we will look like Curry out there with some of the shots he will drain, but also has the ability to go stone cold. He was like 1-14 from he floor in a game this year.

NO WE ARE THE WORST TEAM
I love how all of us are the exact opposite in basketball as we are in football. "I mean, I know we are 14-2 with a great RPI, but we can't be that good. I know we will fvck this up" - basically all Alabama and Auburn fans about basketball all the time regardless of the season.

I was just thinking the same thing. The race of lowered expectations is on

Well said. It's amazing the amount of revisionist history that goes on with Grant, and he's only been gone less than a year. He recruited well, though with talent gaps at key positions. He didn't leave the program in shambles, as I've seen mentioned. He had some bad luck with injuries, had trouble keeping talent around, injected no energy into the program and ran a horrible offense. Those are about the only things you could criticize him for.

Auburn is a pretty good perimeter team. While they're 73rd in the nation in 3-pointers attempted, they're 52nd in the nation in 3-point FGs made. Alabama does have a pretty good scoring defense (top 50), but they're very suspect against the perimeter (186th in the nation in 3-point defense).

Except for he then ran off key members of those recruiting classes and failed to develop large chunks of them.

He played to keep games close, had no idea how to run an offense, was poor at player development, didn't sign or develop a single big man in 4 years and ran off the best recruit he signed in his time here.
I mean, he's a good dude and all, but he was not a good basketball coach or manager of a program.

His last class wasn't very impressive, but overall I agree.
I liked him, but it was time to move on. The lack of energy and excitement was, I think, going to make it harder and harder to recruit talent and 2014 classes would have been the norm.

He ran off Lacey, Jacobs, and Mitchell. I won't blame Grant for Pollard, but that was a full example of "putting all your eggs in one basket". Pollard was the only recruit signed that year, and it was down to us and Mississippi State of I remember. Grant was so awful at player development and had no idea how to close our games.
