How can anyone respect any sport from that university these days?
honestly, auburn isn't much better. the football program went through all the tuberville/petrino junk. now the chizik hire. the sacs scandal. the basketball program is building a $91 million facility during a severe recession despite the fact that lebo is .500 after 4 seasons. oh, isn't auburn only surpassed by oklahoma for football sanctions/probations? what the heck is going on over there?

You are a fool.

Relevance? Our old facility was dreadfully outdated to a degree that can only be truly conveyed if you had gone to a game there. We are merely upgrading our facility to match the other top facilities in the SEC. I fail to see how this is a bad thing.

We haven't gotten in any significant NCAA trouble in over 17 years.

The vacated games do affect Bama's offical all-time wins, so if it is 21 games, we're only like one win behind them now to be winningest program in SEC history!.

I might be wrong.

the relevance was in the context of responding to the previous comment that i actually quoted. you obviously didn't pick up on that.

perhaps you didn't read the reasons i listed why the "upgrade" is questionable

No?
i was wrong, auburn is third

still, an embarassment

here's another list

"significant". funny. plus you glossed over the embarassing sacs problem.

Your reasons were inane.

We haven't gotten in any real trouble with the NCAA since 1993, yes.

And the SACS problem was minor.

With Kiffin, you'll be far behind us again pretty soon.

All of you TN, Barners and LSU peeps that were hoping to see us fall, are fricked.

I hate it for you. I really do, especiallly because you think that's the only way you can hang with Alabama.

You guys are pathetic. Root for your team to have the athleticism, intelligence and discipline to perservere against 'Bama.

Hold your coaches feet to the fire.. Make them live up to your expectations.

Hoping for sanctions so that your team can compete is the gayest thing I can imagine.

Yeah, these lack of controls allowed athletes a bottomless pit of credit for free textbooks and supplies at campus bookstores. A gump, working at the bookstore, alerted someone when he realized a football player had rung up a $1600 tab one semester.
However, the NCAA investigation proved that no student athletes pocketed one cent in this scheme.

Come on! Really?
You tell a kid from backwoods Green Bow he can go to the candystore and get whatever he wants, however many times he wants, and he "gives" it all away????

USC is above the law, just as Bama is.

The punishment is rediculous and the explanation even more so. Alabama now will be watched 3 additional years and Florida and Tennessee will use this w recruits. IMO one of the reasons Fran left was bc of the "stink" inside the program and state which was out of his control. Saban will do the same if it looks like the good ole boys are endangering what he is building. The only lie told today by Alabama is in this statement "not $1 changed hands". Really? So the textbookgate was done out of the goodness of the student athletes hearts and not one single time did $ change hands? Here is the internal investigation: Coach, "son did u take any $?" Student athlete, "No coach I did not." Coach, "Ok then you r cleared son."

Bama would have gotten bigger penalties if the problem had been widespread. Only 16 of Bama's 19 sports were involved. Apparently women's rowing, men's cross country, and women's cross country weren't involved. This obviously proved to the NCAA that the incidents were isolated.

No money changes hands with book scholarships, as athletes hav. Under that system they could "purchase" textbooks against their account, but only had to pay for them if they didn't return them at semesters end.

gumps think nothing was done wrong so the punishment fits the crime

If NCAA had any intelligence the vacated wins should at the minimum required the university to forfeit ticket sales for those games and that should have been the amount of the fine. I think a message would have been sent. But to vacate wins and no other punishment- ah give me a break - this is a waste of time and money

When are people going to understand what vacate means? Neither team can claim victory.
