I’m not going to disagreee that this is potentially the weakest point. I will only add that the weakest point of a brick wall is often still difficult to penentrate. It’ll be a secondary littered with 4 star and 5 star players

array of receiver talent that is distributed throughout the southeastern conference

There’s talented receivers in this league every year. Beckham and Landry were at LSU when Alabama had two safeties that didn’t sniff the NFL. It takes more than talented receivers to exploit a secondary. You need a good quarterback, and you need to be able to run the football. LSU has a major question mark in both categories, and Auburn looks like the only team that could check both boxes on the schedule.

There’s also the pass rush, which will be the most talented in the country. We’ve watched Alabama maul quarterbacks for how many years now? In short, best of luck

The criticism of him is probably unfair and I doubt we'd hear much of it if he was playing for a Kentucky or Texas A&M. Kiffin did a really fine job of using the guy's strengths as a freshman. He just seems limited in throwing downfield and it's obvious that's what they want to do more.

Doesn't matter how good the D is, Bama has the Tua. So unless you are going to put 50 plus on the Bama D, your not beating Bama this year.

He will be, there will still be some growing pains there though. Never started a game. Never had a team prepare solely for him. He still made some boneheaded decisions that almost cost them the game.

I've said for the past couple of months that UGA and Bama are not the locks many are making them out to be. They should be favorites. But SC's schedule gives them a shot even if they lose to UGA and I'd say better than 50/50 if they are able to win on the second week.

Alabama has never had this kind of defensive turnover and staff turnover at the same time.

Because that's been the winning formula for Saban all these years?

I'm surprised how many Bama fans have thrown him under the bus.

I know what you typically have , but teams that beat you do it by attacking your secondary not by running against your front 7.

Some of us haven't. Hurts is not a bad QB, he has limitations that he can't seem to overcome, and a sense of stubbornness that irritates the hell out of some of us. But at the end of the day, he's serviceable.

You should be thankful that an SEC team doesn't have to win the division to make it to the CFP.

Who knows what Alabama secondary is going to be like. Certainly no lack of talent. We got a nice surprise last year and had a walk on cb who runs like a 4.7 forty play lights out and shut down everyone that he played against. Even if our secondary is weak compared to what it's been it's still going to be good. Plus our dline and linebackers are frigging nasty so they won't have to cover for long. Also our offense is going to be stupid good. We will be just fine

I know, but he has a down season last year and all of a sudden he's turned into Clint Mosely.

“A” down season? His passing numbers have never been great. Even his freshman year he struggled against good passing defenses. Somehow his sophomore year, he became less confident as a passer and regressed.

At least this shouldn't be an issue against LSU. 2013 was the last time y'all had good receivers AND a competent QB and Saban stomped dat arse by 3 TDs

In 3.5 playoff games Jalen Hurts led offenses scored 65 points and threw for 329 passing yards. So with all of that talent around him he could average 19 points or 100 yards passing

Not to mention:
90 yards vs. FSU
112 vs. Auburn
107 vs. LSU
138 vs. Florida

We cannot be so hasty in our assumptions. Remember that Anthony Jennings once lead a 99 yard game winning drive

Jeremy Johnson had a good half at QB as well before he was annoited.

Who’s planning to go at least 11-1 and win the tiebreaker for the West with Alabama?
