Seriously?

It was such a big deal, yet they let him play the rest of the game and decided to suspend him for the next game.

Obviously not that big of a deal, just a quarter suspension so there you go ruining your own point.

"Stop everything every body, we need to stop coaching in the moment and worry about handing down a small time punishment for TJY just in case douchey internet fans get butthurt if we wait until later when we aren't in the middle of doing something much more important." Great idea man, I really hope no one puts you in charge of a company, you will never know how to manage your time.

Yeldon should not have been suspened.
On the other hand, Rolando definitely should have been suspended or kicked off.

You've already said "I wouldn't have sat him at all. I think suspending him is silly.", so what's your gripe?
My gripe? I simply stated it. If you think he did something suspension worthy, then you should punish him when he did it. I don't think this is suspension worthy at all (are we going to start suspending for every personal foul?) but apparently Saban does.
By handling it like this, what's the point he's driving home to Yeldon or anyone else? Actions have consequences but only when it's convenient. Do this with your kids and see how that works out. You can't mete punishment only when convenient or the only lesson learned is no more than for them to get better at determining when it's inconvenient.

Props to Saban.....
Alabama was uncharacteristically undisciplined in the A&M game. False starts, illegal substitution, not protecting the ball at the goal line, and Yelton's USC.
Not making mental mistakes is usually the difference in close games so it looks like the message to the team is don't lose your focus.

Saban had a game to win, jackass.

You just asked how we could get the thread going on Ingram. I believe I did that.

Good for Bama, and as far as I'm concerned. Yeldon should've gotten worse.
One thing that been great about this awesome Bama run lately. Is most of the players have handled themselves with class on & off the feild. If Bama's players start acting like thugs, they won't have our blessings.

Looks like someone missed the point of my post. Never was taking the high ground on this. I didn't have a problem with his antics to begin with. Just pointing out the obvious willard. Take a break it's getting too serious for you.

You're equating this to something like "violating team rules". It isn't that, and this was all on Saban. He didn't have to suspend him at all. He's suspending him for a quarter in the next game to make sure he gets the message across, which I've no doubt Yeldon understands by now. There was no reason to penalize the team for a penalty that had already been assessed. Personally I admire the move by Saban.

that's cool. I just don't see it that way. I see it as being interpreted differently by the players.
Imo, it's pretty hard for the players to take this sort of punishment seriously since it really isn't much of a punishment. It becomes no more than a joke among the players where they laugh with each other for doing that sort of thing and say "better be careful or you'll be suspended vs Georgia State." And likely none of them think the next one that gets a taunting penalty will be suspended for anything important.
I realize most coaches, including ours, do this sort of rationalized punishment. It's bullshite though imo. Yeldon's penalty really didn't bother me much (and I actually thought it would be funny other than the fact that he did something that is a well-known no-no). Imo it should be handled internally with a kid running stairs til he pukes. That sort of punishment is to him alone and is not in danger of being arbitrary as the next kid that does it gets the same punishment.
But if AJ McCarron gets a taunting penalty vs Auburn, are they really going to sit him for the SECCG? That punishment would be too harsh and we all know it. So the likely result is Saban looks the other way. Then it just becomes arbitrary. And no matter how admirable you think it is, there's no real lesson in arbitrary.
