I hope not. I want him to become the next Bobby Bowden…

At LSU/Alabama, Saban has never had a 4 year player not win a national title. He is comiing back at least next year to preserve that - I see him going all in next year.

We’re talking about it and he’s getting clicks, so good enough for him

He's there for 3 to 4 more years.

Former radio host, now just co-hosts a podcast.
Per the tweet you reference:
quote:
Recently on The Next Round:
Lance Taylor — “I am going to lean that [Nick Saban] retires…”
[His co-hosts] Jim Dunaway and Ryan Brown disagree.
So while this is generally what was said, the actual context doesn't have as much impact as the thread title might insinuate.

Workaholics rarely retire at the age that the average person would. I would be shocked if he decided to hang it up. He's been working probably 12-15 hours per day for what, 30-40 years? Pretty sure he'd go stir crazy if he all sudden had tons of free time.

He just added Alabama's 30th SEC Championship to the trophy case... And his team is the odds on favorite to win it all next year... Hope he stays but I can understand your angst

Portal and nil is probably getting to him and many college coaches. I know it is souring this fan.

A poster on a UGA board predicted this a month ago:
Every year since 2008 people have said the same thing. But maybe THIS time will be different..

You say 30… LMAO! Probably 5 is more accurate.

If Saban retires, he will probably announce it in December after he has a bad season. If it is early January, he's already back on the grind for the next season. The man is a workaholic and won't stop until he thinks he's lost it.

I've also heard he was constructing a beach house that needed to be ready by a certain time.
I guess this stuff is the new flight-tracker watching.

no they are not the favorites to win it all, where do you get this shite from!

I hear his daughter wants him to retire and Mrs. Terry is ready as well.

Idk about that, but it's pretty open record that they did buy an $18M mansion in Jupiter island florida. As old as the Sabans are you gotta think they'd want to actually get to enjoy it for a while..

I've said it here a bunch, but I've heard him speak on both many times, and this will be why he eventually retires, IMO.
Not sure if that's today or five years from now, but every coach will tell you it's just not the same game anymore.
He hates someone having to give an 18-year-old kid a "reward" for showing up instead of making him earn it on the field — just how these old-school guys are wired.
