Avery needs to go. I'm tired of Bama having a shitty bball team.

(A)How’s your baseball coach doing? (B)Is he Jim wells caliber? (C)Is whimp still around, y’all had good teams while he was there.

(A) It's too early to tell. His cupboard is bare.
(B) If he is, it'll tickle the hell out of me.
(C) Yep..Wimp's still hanging around giving everybody in the AD hell (except Saban ). I wish we could find another 30 year old Wimp. He had fire in his arse and would light a player up if he didn't leave it ALL on the court..and learned enough from C.M. to be a good Xs and Os coach, too. If we DID find such a guy, I'd insist that we castrate him and let him have only male secretaries.

Do you have too much talent to be in this situation? Yes

Do you have 5 starters on your team that would all be high draft picks as you suggest? I doubt it

No one suggested all 5 were high draft picks. I said we had 3-4 nba caliber players, then also added that they were projected in the second round. Bait was weak.

It was laughable because you ran off the same caliber of coach (probably better overall) before hiring him and then ran off and even better coach previous to running off him.

Anthony Grant was not better overall and deserved to be fired. He went to 1 NCAAT in 6 years and went 32-34 (15-21) in his last 2 seasons at Alabama (in a much worse SEC).

Mark Gottfried went 35-30 (12-20) in his last 2 seasons and didn't go to the NCAAT for his last 4 seasons at Alabama.

Please, tell me more.

I think a lot of the offseason NBA scout chatter was premature, but Dino isn't wrong. Hall and, lol, Herb Jones, were very frequently mentioned by serious NBA Draftniks as 2019/2020 draftable guys with Petty discussed as a probably 2nd round guy in 2020 as well.

The Herb Jones stuff was classic scout/draftnik projection stuff, but it was most certainly there.

Well they were both more certainly better than Gottfried's last 2 seasons, which is what he got fired for.

The Gottfried of 2001-2006 would never have been fired. But then he stopped recruiting, starting frickin a Kappa and the entire program collapsed.

KenPom Rankings
2008 MG - #86
2009 MG - #100

The 2009 Gottfried team is the worst KenPom ranked Alabama team of the last 20 years.

Y'all really don't though. Bama is the most top heavy team in the league.

Kira is the only one who will ever be a legit NBA prospect, and he still has some development to do before he gets to that point

Its a tough but pays well business. Very few coaches in SEC have been at their school 4 or 5 yrs. Pressure to compete & win is more than ever. Basketball coaches now making millions so you best have a team whose improving this time of yr otherwise seat will be xtra hott.

I agree - but there are SEC quality players on the roster that could actually be pieced together into a NCAAT caliber team there. Even with their lackluster development. They wouldn't be a Top 25 team or anything, but a solid college basketball coach would figure out how to win 21-22 games and be a #7-8 seed with those guys in the right rotational setup.

Avery just can't do it and hasn't shown the ability to figure out how to. Oh well.
