Well Historically the SEC as a whole is a lot better in football than in Basketball, so this is meaningless.
If anything that gives Bama an advantage. Kids want to come play in the SEC because the SEC is the nation's best football conference. And they often want to come play for Bama since bama is the top program in the SEC.
While Kentucky can certainly recruit off of their own basketball tradition, no kids are coming to play ball at UK in order to play in the SEC.
If anything, being in the SEC is a detriment to Kentucky. While there is very little difference in Kentucky, UNC, and Duke, I'm sure there are a ton of kids that choose UNC and/or Duke over Kentucky because they'd rather play in the ACC where basketball is taken more seriously.

Kentucky basketball has been ranked AP #1 during 122 total weeks (10.9% of all releases).

Advantage Kentucky each time.
Because basketball season is longer?

because that affects percentages how?

quote:You're right, historically we don't just play the SEC and four cupcakes. We schedule one of the best OOC slates in basketball and dominate it too. Kansas is the second best basketball program and our record against them is 22-7. Can y'all say that about Notre Dame or Michigan?

I give the nod to Bama. After watching their delirious fans sprint across the field at autograph (or whatever) day, they are the winner. Any program that can create that level of wackitude is #1.
Ever been to the SEC Tournament?
Let's just say, UK fans are the bammers of the basketball world.

Look at what percentage of all SEC Championships Kentucky can claim in basketball and then compare it to the percentage of all SEC Football Championships bama can claim.
Well then Florida State is the greatest of all, look at their % of ACC Football Titles.
I'm not arguing either way here, both have great, historical programs, but you can't compare SEC Basketball and SEC Football. Come on BHM.

I guess you won't be claiming those football titles anymore. Better paint over 1958 2003 2007 in Death Valley.

as has been stated, it is much harder to win a title in basketball than it is in football. the tournament format of basketball is not a good way to determine a national champion. it's just more entertaining. Kentucky, however, has 46 conference titles. Everyone else in the conference combined has 49.

then why can't alabama dominate it's own conference in football like uk has in basketball?
