I think he has to pull the trigger this year if he wants to go the HC route.
SC would be a gamble for him, but if he failed, I can think of lots of schools that would love to get him as a DC.
I think he probably has all the tools to make a great HC, but his stock has dropped (rather unfairly, imho) in the past few years.
