I think Lupoi will be a hot name this time next year, given the success of the last two coordinators that Tennessee and Georgia have taken.

He's been with the program since 2014 and with the reputation he has as a recruiter, he's going to be a big name.

It's possible, I'd just be shocked for him to get a job like Auburn. I would not be shocked to see him on Pac12 coaching boards.

I think it's possible a year from now when Auburn is in full blown coaching search mode and he's made a bigger name for himself.

You've got to think the administration would at least give him an interview seeing the success that UT and UGA are having with bama DC's.

Kind of strange going from talk of "Big Game Bob" to a Bammer DC, don't you think?

Seems to have been the thinking of UT and UGA.

Hire away bama’s elite defensive coordinator recruiter. Worked well so far.

Plus Lupoi knows the surrounding recruiting area well and wouldn’t have a problem transitioning.

Fine recruiter but the defense has taken a step back this year. Saban pretty much took back control of the defense in November because they played undisciplined for the first couple of months. They are plenty athletic enough but there were communication problems and players constantly out of position(all coaching issues). I would not be surprised if Saban replaces him in the offseason.

For the record Dabo Swinney was a young coach in his 30's who had NEVER been an offensive coordinator or defensive coordinator. He was a WR coach that was an elite recruiter (Clemson's recruiting coordinator).

Literally dozens of examples where this doesn’t work out. And Auburn would have fired him after that Orange Bowl fiasco.

This
I'd think Auburn would have much higher standards and would want a proven winner with HC experience. They've already been on the head-coach-in-training circus with Gus, why go that route again?

I agree. This defense has improved and would be a strength on just about every other team, but it has not met the Saban standard.
