I guess it depends on where you are from and what era you grew up in.
I became an Auburn fan in 2003 when I started school there, and I personally hated Georgia way more than Alabama until around 2009. Even now, I think I care more about beating Georgia than Alabama on an emotional level.
I imagine many Bama fans who grew up around the 60s and 70s wouldn’t have seen Auburn as much of a threat thus minimizing the rivalry in their eyes.
I can also bet that there will be a contingency of Alabama fans 20 years from now who will speak of Clemson as some kind of OOC rival.

Bama fans always say this when they fear a loss in the iron bowl. After the loss they will say the game didn't mean anything, that they were not playing for a championship.

What I find "hysterical" is an L1-8U fan, with a big game AND SECCG coming up, all the while threading about which Alabama rivalry should be more important to.......Alabama fans!

I never cared much about LSU one way or the other till I came to this board.
If a stranger dropped in on the Rant and never knew LSU fans before they'd probably think you were all nuts.

Damn, that’s exactly how I feel about Auburn minus the prison orange.
I love beating them in Baton Rouge every other year and we still beat them on the plains two thirds of the time. I god damn despise Auburn.

Exactly. It's petty and transparently false. Idc much about the outcome either way, but that kind behavior is worthy of ridicule, which is why I made the thread. I don't claim Bama isn't a rival when we lose to them
