I'll stop when Alabama basketball makes a Final Four. Fair enough?

115 points is great but it doesn't mean anything if they can't advance in the NCAA tourney. Both LSU and Alabama have had much more talented basketball teams that didn't do anything in the tournament.

LSU's best teams and probably Alabama's too were the ones that played the best DEFENSE and could score.

We're the #1 team in the country in defensive efficiency so that's probably a good sign for us then

Oh how I miss the days under Stansbury when we would be playing a key game vs Alabama to decide the west and LSU too. To say we have hit rock bottom is an understatement. I feel like crying.

Nobody seems to realize Bama's defense is statistically better than their offense, and it's more consistent.

I honestly missed the post, but let's see them prove it in the NCAA tourney like 2006 LSU did to shut down Duke, then we can talk.

Awesome. Bama is the best defensive team in the country. I’m glad you settled that for everyone.

See my post above. Gotta do it when it counts. I'm not saying they can't, but SEC offenses aren't the most disciplined in the country.

We'll see.

I think we should just admit that you felt the need to downplay Bama's team a bit, got called on your wrong assessment, and are now trying to save it.

We could say NOTHING any team has done to this point matters yet if we're going to go with your "doesn't matter until the tournament games" take. I have a feeling you would be ok with praise for Baylor and their stats, yet the SEC won the SEC/B12 challenge.

I can’t stand Baylor for various reasons. And yes - what a team does in the postseason is what people remember. Bama football fans know that.

I do like this Alabama basketball ream and I hope they do make the final four instead of UNC Duke Kansas Villanova etc

I’d love to see Gonzaga and Alabama play in a 100 point each shootout.

It is a 6 game season once you get in.

Don't we clinch the conference with a win over Vandy?

If we win the next 2 we clinch the SEC Title (but it could theoretically still be shared if we lose out and one of the 4 loss teams wins out).

If we win 3 more games we win the title all by ourselves (or another loss by the 3 teams that have 4 losses).

Hoping for the former. Would like Oats to have the option to rest some players before the SEC Tourney.

A couple of games and 1-2 extra weeks of rest could make a big difference.

Missed the A&M game when looking at the schedule. Thought we only had 4 left.

Considering what's left on our schedule... Arkansas is the only good team remaining. Vandy is a dumpster fire, A&M, Mississippi State and Auburn are all .500 (or damned close) overall record clubs.

Doubt we'll do that unless someone is really, really banged up. We still badly want/need to get on that #1/2 seed line and not #3/4. Huge differences.

Yea - the schedule looked much more daunting (the last 3, at least) 15 days ago. Since then State and Auburn have kind of collapsed.

So dumb. Let's just take the example of Bama and LSU ending up with the same conference record this year. It won't actually end up that day, but there's no way they should share if it did happen when Bama blew out LSU twice. There should be tie breakers in the standings like there are for the tournament seeding.

It does seem pretty stupid when there is a clear head to head like Tennessee/Auburn a few years ago.

Don't necessarily disagree, but it is nice to have options.

I think most would honestly be happy just to adopt that. The #1 seed in the tournament is the regular season champ.

The #2 can win the tournament if they want a title.

But, same thing happens with shared division titles in football. Multiple of SEC Championship game reps are "co-division" champs who win the tie breaker to go to ATL. That is dumb to me as well. Going to ATL means winning the division.
