I think Alabama would be favored, on a neutral field, over every team below them.
The rankings are supposed to be about best teams, not deserving teams, not any other measure you want to dream up.

Finally, an Alabama fan that uses good logic! 
I have to agree with you, there is no good reason right now for them to be ranked where they are. Honestly I don't see how they could be ranked that high even if they win out the rest of their regular season. A&M will at least be a 3 loss team and if Auburn only drops to them then that is their best win.
