No one is transferring. It's standard to have talented QBs-1 after another at top programs. Pete Carroll did it to perfection, so did Bobby Bowden and Spurrier in the 90s. You guys act like Sims is so ignorant that he never heard of McCarron.

McCarron > Sims. If McCarron leaves his junior year then Sims could play 2 years...not too bad. Otherwise, he has one year to start barring injury to McCarron.

Why don't you go ahead and list the Alabama AA starting QBs and the list of Auburn AA starting QBs? I believe Auburn only has had 1 more AA starting QB than Alabama.

And make no mistake about it, if Star Jackson was better than McElroy, he would be the starter for Bama against SJSU.

The race shite is just plain stupid. Whoever brought that up and actually thinks that a QB's race is an issue these days (when it comes to Football at any team) is a certified retard among other pathetic things that im sure most people around you are ashamed of.

Somebody hit a soft spot with the gumps. They're sure getting pissy about not playing a black QB.

This is simple.

McCarron heads to the NFL after starting next season for Bama. Sims starts the next season and then leaves for the NFL after that.

We're even getting a Samoan and a Aboriginal Australian in this recruiting class.

Plus, Julio is Latino.

Bama is one big melting pot.

I hear people say that Bama doesn't play black QB's, but I in my lifetime they have had Zow, Woodson, Sutton and Lewis all start. Palmer even started at QB when Barker was hurt.

It's not that Bama is somehow 'racist' and won't go after bluechip black QBs.

It's that none of them have ever been successful QBs once they get there.

I seem to recall Walter Lewis was a highly regarded QB prospect, and he went on to have a fine career under center. But he signed a scholly more than 30 years ago.

Zow was signed as a DB, with a promise he'd get a shot at QB. He ended up with the job in '98 only because they had run out of options at the position.

Every other black highschool QB who has signed with the Tide has either switched positions, transferred, or failed.

Maybe it's just something in the water up there.

Could this end up being alot closer of a compeition than some make it sound? How suprised would you guys be if Sims starts in 2011?

No, McCarron is a lot better right now. Sims will have to improve significantly to challenge A.J. for the starting job next year.

I can't blame him if he does. His three best QBs (Rohan Davey, Tony Banks, Jamarcus Russell) were black. All of his white QBs were basically game manager types that really needed a strong team behind them to win.

Right now, McCannon is well ahead of Sims due to having a year longer to practice. I'd have to bet AJ wins the battle for next year. After that I don't know or care which one of them starts as long as they're good enough to win the job.

Didn't Sims complain to his dad about the bama coaching staff getting on his case about his poor working habits and over eating?

You mean like Andrew Zow, Walter Lewis, or Danny Woodson?
