I think he has shown he can play in this league and honestly take this opportunity to put a couple good performances on video. A good backup who later in his career could be a starter.
This is a chance to show he can get the job done if called on and good games here will keep the paychecks coming .

Good for him.
I don't see why anyone would disparage him.

I never said New Orleans. Drew Brees, hell no. But there is about 10 teams that I believe would rather have Aj than their current starter. And yes some of those teams are playing backups. It's a contact sport, you gotta have backups!

Just like a bama fan to think that a mediocre qb from their school is great after winning 1 game against SF who lost terribly to Cleveland. Plus its a qb from bama first win since 1987 that's says a lot mr 1/4. Yea he can start for half of the teams in the Canadian league just saying

If AJ got with a team and they handed him the keys he could be a viable starter. No doubt. He needs a team that says you're our QB and Cincy has its head so far up Dalton's arse that will never happen there. Of all the current non-starting SEC QB's in the league this guy is the most efficient and is a proven winner. He's started one game and won that one. He just needs a team to say you are our guy.

Why don't we let him play a few more games before we make statements about how good he is?

If Dalton isn't back in time for the first round of playoffs and AJ leads them to a victory (something Dalton hasn't done in playoffs) then this could change. Otherwise, it is unlikely to change.

this sounds a lot like the Matt Flynn talk from a few years ago, except Matt Flynns limited PT was much more impressive than anything Mccarron did yesterday. People seriously need to pump the breaks

He is borrowing a job for a few weeks till Dalton's thumb is healed.

Prior to Dalton winning this season, he was about to be benched for AJ. So I wouldnt say Cincy or their fanbase is in any way infatuated with dalton

Well it takes a lot of weight from premise of this thread, eh?
I know you're a fan and all, but c'mon. It's like saying, AJ McCarron would start in Green Bay*!!
*if Rodgers was hurt

Are you seriously trying to say when Dalton is healthy that Cincy should still stick with AJ?

I guarantee you if AJ leads the Bengals to a win in the Wild Card round, and then Dalton is good to go for the Divisional Round, the Bengals will go with Dalton.

Saw this on another board. Seriously, which Bama fan is this?

As a Bengals fan I hope we stick with AJ even if Dalton gets healthy.
AJ is a better QB. He went to a better college, and was a better college QB. McCarron prepared himself for the NFL by facing solid SEC defenses, while Dalton played against crappy MW defenses.
McCarron is a better QB based on college competition he faced alone. He is more prepared for NFL style defenses.

Current Brett Favre could probably start for almost 1/4 of NFL teams. There are a handful of teams down to their 3rd string.
