If true, then I don’t see what’s wrong with kicking the tires. It’s not a big deal to me that he decided to stay and got a pay raise.
No, I don’t think he needed leverage to get an extension, Broyle’s award finalist. But I’m sure more leverage equals more money. Good for him.
I’m also interested to see what Klein can do. Cheers.

Wasn’t Jimbo extended after going 9-1 and an Orange Bowl win?
All this talk of teams getting robbed from the playoffs. A&M was one of the 4 best teams that season.
That’s when he got the extension, when LSU was inquiring about hiring him.

Per TexAgs, Denbrock was their third choice. I am sure that FootballScoop.com has much better sources than Billy Luicci and TexAgs.
Poor Sidewalk, believing everything he reads on the internet.
Billy Liucci also swears LSU was going to offer Jimbo $15 million per year despite the fact that Kirby and Saban make less than $12 mil.
He also said Jimbo's extension would be a bargain for A&M.
Billy Liucci, like Buster83, just makes shite up to make A&M look better.

How did they get robbed?

A&M was a better team than ND that year

Based on what?

Based on the same arguments being made today.
-If they played, who would’ve won.
-Who looks like the better team.
-ND had just been beaten handily in the ACC Conference Champ game the week before.

I don't really remember anyone really believing A&M was the better team.
Notre Dame had two ranked regular season wins, A&M only had one.
Notre Dame had one loss, in their conference championship game. A&M didn't make their conference championship.
Not really any indication that A&M was a better team.

Losing to Clemson on a neutral site 34-10 the week of the committee vote is an indication

Wasn't a&m's single best victory at home against a 4-loss Florida team that was blown out in their bowl game?
The rest of their victories:
Vanderbilt (0-9)
Mississippi State (4-7, first year head coach)
Arkansas (3-7, first year head coach)
South Carolina (2-8, fired their coach)
LSU (5-5, fired their coach next season)
Auburn (6-5, fired their head coach)
Tennessee (3-7, fired their head coach)
That's not exactly the most fearsome schedule

The teams that played well count the season. They keep their hardware.
But it’s specifically relevant to the topic because that’s when LSU was pursuing Jimbo and that’s when Jimbo’s extension happened.

When an 8-1 team's one loss is by 28 points and next best win is by 4 points against a team that went 8-4, crying about not making the playoffs is pretty hilarious.
A&M beat no one in 2020. Their best win was 3 points against 8-4 Florida. The Florida who lost by 30 to OU.

How? A&M was sitting at home that week. A&M also played one less regular season game.

Yeah. That’s part of the discussion why UGA didn’t make the playoffs this year.

Everyone that's ahead of them won their conference championship.
2020 A&M didn't even play for theirs.
