tamu lost Woodward over a 10% raise that amounted to $100,000.00 a year. Even had he stayed, broke dick aggies would never have been able to afford Kelly or Johnson.

You think Woodward would have been able to lure Jay Johnson and Brian Kelly to that wasteland? They both pursued LSU. Not the other way around.

Fisher turned him down so he settled for Plan B in Kelly.

Woodward offered Jimbo an 8 year, 125 million guaranteed deal, and Jimbo told him to kick rocks.

Gotta hand it to Billy Liucci. Despite a complete lack of success in any sport, he has these booger eating aggies believing that they are relevant.

Commentary coming from a poster that says this:

We can frick up a lot, but paying and overpaying is not one of them.

Indeed. Some times our LSU buds get out over their skis and forget they root for a massively dysfunctional and disrespected academic organization that is located in one of the poorer parts of a state that resembles a third world country.

Yet, for all of the chest pounding from tamu about their endowment and war chest and boosters and alumni support, they have never accomplished anything of note in collegiate athletics since WW2 ended.

You say LSU is dysfunctional and Louisiana is a third world country? What’s tamu’s excuse for not raking in titles in College Station, Texas?

I would guess it has to do with more important goals in life than winning collegiate trophies? If that is all you can bring to the smack table, you are basically the Uncle Rico of modern life.

They didn't accomplish their endowment, it is a gifted annual stipended by the State and the University of Texas' discovery and development of oil production from the University Lands.

You attempt to summarize the whole story with one dumb rumor.

Like I said, Looch has fooled you people into believing LSU was going to pay Jimbo $15.6 million per year while Saban is out here making something like $11.7 million per year.

There’s certainly more to life. But you’re on a sports talk forum, responding to a thread about tamu’s former athletic director. Stay on topic, please.

You know you've already lost when you're forced to talk about everything except sports on a sports talk forum.

If Fisher is Plan A the Aggies have bigger problems than you realize.

Unlike some of my fellow LSU psychos, I won't deny that we attempted to hire Jimbo. I won't even deny that I wanted him at the time. (You wouldn't believe the desperation that sets in when you have Miles/O for 17 years.)

However, now I am glad this did not happen. Fisher is a damn head case and will ultimately flame out of College Station in the next few years.

Aggie won the game last year and I will not take that away from them. LSU was unprepared and took them lightly.

However, Brian Kelly has now become a better coach than Fisher and LSU has a much brighter future than Aggie.

So while everything you guys are saying is true, I still would not want to be in your shoes.

Agreed. Pay that man. Lifetime contract and just sign over the university lands to him.

You really think they offered him $15.6 million per year?

I know that LSU definitely reached out to Jimbo to gauge interest but that was as far as it went, Jimbo wasn't interested which is completely understandable.
