Sorry, but it is true. My sister-in-law down in San Diego is a 1970 graduate of UTA...her family is quite prominent in Austin...she's said several times that UTA's gone off the deep end.
Texas' academics are very good; however, you still rank lower than Vandy, UGA and Florida in the SEC per U.S.News & World Report (you're in the same ballpark so there's not really a hair's difference).

Yeah, no. A good chunk of the student population transfers in from UTSA after the top 10% rule admits from the Rio Grande Valley flunk out. You are not going to see that in most any private university.
This thread just proves the OPs point...University of Illinois, Purdue, and Georgia Tech have more highly regarded engineering programs that UT but I rarely fund their alums trying to lump themselves in with CalTech or MIT.

We didn’t go to the SEC to get away from big bad bullies..we went to the SEC to get away from you self centered arrogant assholes...just like Arky, just like Nebraska, just like Missouri...Baylor would be gone to, except Bob Bullock called your hand..DeLoss Dodds and the rest of you tu pussies pouted and refused to continue playing the Aggies. The fact is we are playing in a great conference, in great college venues..and you’re not. DKR is shitty run down stadium two blocks from skid row in Austin..and your other marquee game is in even a worse stadium in Dallas.
