Button-down collared shirts is classic American style. Gotta have a collar roll, though. I wouldn't wear some JCPenny shite with a tie but if you don't appreciate a nice Brooks Brothers button-down collared shirt with a tie you're a eurotrash commie

How's it going, Al Golden?

Wait so can you clarify what shirt you should wear a tie with? Are you suggesting a pullover or some sort or a turleneck? I make over your "trash" threshold but am confused on how a shirt that button is trashy. Please help me Versace.

If you're shopping at JCPenny, yeah, a button-down collar is casual

But a nice button-down with a tie is classic American style. Brooks Bros has been around for 200 years, makes the best dress shirts in America, and the button-down collar dress shirt is their staple

JCPenny casual shirt with a suit and tie is trailer trash as frick, true

Brooks bros button-down dress shirt with a suit and tie is rich WASP as frick

I wouldn't say I'm either

He's suggesting that a button-down collar is white trash, so I bet he wears spread or point collar dress shirts

Well you don’t know what WASP means. No one agrees with you. You’re trash. Button down collars with a tie are the epitome of “my mom dressed me for kindergarten pictures”

We didn’t have button downs when I was in kindergarten.

again, not if you know what you're doing. Most button-down collared shirts are casual shirts but not all of them are -- the reason that a button-down collared shirt is casual is more so because most button-down collars are very short and don't create any space between the collar and the rest of a shirt which causes the collar to lie flat on a tie which isn't a good look

but this shirt and most of Brooks Bros' dress shirts create a "collar roll" by having the collar be longer than the space between the top of the collar and the button which creates some space which allows for a tie to look better

A nice button-down collar with a tie is a classic northeast prep look. sorry if you've never gotten out of Louisiana
