I read through the first page of that thread (long before BasedTiger weighed in) and it was just awful. Very little of any value whatsoever.

Made me appreciate what we have here on tRant.

Note: By my own unsolicited vow, I was amongst several Ags who agreed not to post on tSECr until the last tick of tonight's TXST at Texas A&M game clock.
Until this moment, I had every intention of keeping my word.
But I'm officially violating my pledge by several hours, as your thread, DatNolaClap, has suckered me in.
Plus I've had a few cocktails.
I'm not proud of abandoning my self-imposed moratorium a few hours early, and I don't blame you if you judge me accordingly.

Now that my confession has been disclosed, here's my [much too long] communiqué ....

There are some stellar folks who matriculated at UTex.
I include several of my family members within that bunch (though each one is disgusted with the political direction UTex has taken--a topic for another board).
There are also, however, many horns with whom it can be darn tough to share a friendly conversation and beverage.
They do not like us/Texas A&M University at all.
Disagree all you want.
This is your official cue to jump into the thread and opine, "But they hate OU more!"
Fine. Whatever.
That changes nothing about the relationship between Ags and horns.

That surlyhorn website is one of the most messed up online communities I've ever seen.
And I'm no stranger to interactive sports formats.
Almost every single thread is an indictment against someone they don't like.
And the discussions go on for hundreds of pages.
It's next to impossible to have an actual conversation, when you're responding to a comment made by someone three years previously.

I don't know if/when they'll ever change their ways.
But those of you who think UTex would make a great addition to the SEC and think the "let's kick out the Ags" mantra is fun are simply uninformed.
And that's ok.
I myself know little to nothing about FSU, Clemson, and Louisville, for example.

But keep this in mind: UTex wants nothing to do with the SEC.
There is zero doubt in their minds that they are a superior people, and that this conference is beneath them in every measurable way.
Moreover, if you're looking for a group of friendly and hospitable conference foes, you'll never find 'em (collectively) at UTex.
Ask Colorado. Ask Nebraska. Ask Missouri. Ask Texas A&M.
There's no coincidence or conspiracy involved.

You won't find anyone who recognizes more than Ags what a strange bunch of characters we are
And we'll never change.
