What if we haven't officially offered him yet?
What if we found out through back channels exactly what he is unhappy about, what he wants in a job, and what the pay will take to get him to jump ship THEN after we fired Sumlin hold meetings with the BMD & BOR to get all our ducks in a row and will make him a damn near perfect offer days before his last game instead of throwing shite out there early giving FSU & others to try to offer and keep him around.

So what if your AD department is not an unorganized shite show like LSU?

Waiting on state law. As a public institution the money must be approved by the Board of Regents.
That meeting is scheduled for Thursday. It is the only agenda item. By state law the agenda must be published at least three days before they meet. It was posted on Monday and Thursday is the first day they can vote on it.
They don't fly these people in from around the state unless they know it is a done deal.
There is no name mentioned but it gives the AD permission to offer someone a boat load of money. By law names can be held in secret.
Here is story from the Houston Chronicle:
COLLEGE STATION – It takes a special kind of regents meeting at Texas A&M to perk up Aggies to the fine print. The kind related to the hire of a new football coach.
A&M on Monday announced a regents meeting for Thursday afternoon on campus, with its agenda in part reading, "Discussion of legal and personnel issues relating to football program, including issues relating to appointment of new head coach."
A&M athletic director Scott Woodward on Sunday announced the firing of sixth-year coach Kevin Sumlin, and signs continue to point toward the impending hire of Jimbo Fisher from Florida State. Fisher, first identified by the Chronicle as the Aggies' top target weeks ago, once again addressed the issue on Monday during his weekly press conference. Sort of.
"I'm not going to speak about jobs right now," he said in response to a reporter's question about A&M.
Asked what he tells his players in times such as these when the rumor mill is rampant, Fisher replied, "I'm here coaching you right now."

Waiting on Thursday BOR meeting to approve the contract and Jimbo told Woodward he feels obligated to coach the last game since he's who lobbied to get it rescheduled. Expect an official announcement Sunday.

I'm thinking FSU might ask him to go ahead and crap or get off the can, though. The situation is getting toxic.

That game means a lot to FSU. They have gone to bowls for I think 36 or 37 years straight. They need one win to be 6-6 and become bowl eligible.
I would think he does not want to take the blame if they don't get that 6th win.

Aggie mods have already said this is SOP for Sumlin and staff's buyout.
Taylor Hamm said it's a done deal. Congrats on hiring Mike Leach.

I’d be more happy with that

I agree 100%. I'd rather you guys hire Fisher over Leach.
The pirate would do some damage if he ever pulled in to port at a decent SEC school. Fisher will do well, and will probably cause the rest of the West some pain from time to time, but Leach would be a huge pain in the arse for the rest of us. I like that guy!

We were in a conference with Leach for a long time. We know his limits. He's never winning anything of significance, but he puts out a nice product and is entertaining as hell.
