Try to improve the record?
Hey, I'm one of those middle aged guys who isn't that interested in Texas playing A&M either. Texas AD at least looks like he played you guys, and to me that's worth a chuckle and a couple of posts on these thread.

Then, why ask Aggy to play? You don’t need that game, and they don’t seem to want it.

But they do need that game.
They’ve said it.
Their schedule demands it; ours doesn’t.

That's what I am getting at.
They do need the game because they can't sell tickets with that shitty home schedule.
I think Aggy should just suck it up and play the game, but with Alabama and company coming to town every other year, what's the point?
It seems like the Texas guys are too prideful to admit that they fricked up when Aggy left the Big 12.

Posted on 8/23/18 at 11:27 am to WestCoastAg
We are accustomed to aggy running from us.

No, you're accustomed to losing. What is it like to lose 27 games in a 4 season stretch?
Posted on 8/23/18 at 11:32 am to OldSchoolHorn
Damn right we ran away from tu. As did Nebraska, Colorado, and Missouri.
It has nothing to do with the game on the field and end everything to do with the type of partner y'all are.
Enjoy your home games this year against USC, Tulsa, TCU, Baylor, WV, and Iowa St.

That's not what I read. I read that it was for 2 years only and was only offered to fill a hole left by Ohio State backing out.
It was not an offer to renew the series.
The Story from the Dallas Morning News
"Background on A&M-Texas football scheduling. Texas had Ohio St locked in for 2022 and '23. Buckeyes requested to move dates to play Notre Dame. Chris Del Conte said he called A&M, who already had Miami for those dates. But Alabama did have an opening setting up a home-and-home."
"n a phone interview Wednesday evening, Texas AD Chris Del Conte confirmed that he did talk with his A&M counterpart while offering further context.
Things started, Del Conte said, when he got a call from Ohio State shortly after being hired at Texas in December. Texas and Ohio State had scheduled a home-and-home series for 2022 and '23. Suddenly, the Buckeyes had a chance to play Notre Dame, where Ohio State AD Gene Smith had won a national championship as a player. "
Looks to me like you Texas guys are making more of this story than you should. Why didn't your AD offer later dates for Aggy?
Because you really didn't want to renew the series? Be honest.

I fully admit that leaving the horns behind was one of the many positives of joining the SEC.
Each time one of ‘em slides onto this board, leaving a snail trail in his wake, I sigh.
I understand, though; it’s been hard on ‘em.

Add me to the list of posters who have noticed your thought process reflects a beta mentality.

This coming from a guy who supports a program that appears to be scared of mediocre Aggy?
I'll tell you what. When your AD offers up a renewal date well into the future that gives neither side a scheduling excuse, and Aggy refuses, I will be the first to call them a bunch of pussies.
Deal?

Trying to explain a one-sided rivalry as Texas just dominating in the pre-modern era. Lol. From 2000-2011 Texas went 9-3. Texas dominance wasn't just a thing of the past

It's the truth. Hell, I even openly claimed the arse drilling we usually receive from Clemson. Sometimes the truth hurts. But we do actually acknowledge it and keep on keepin' on. Nobody can say we ever puss out or give up. We might get our asses kicked but damn it...we are right back there the next yr bc wimping out is not an option at Carolina.
Hell, I'll go one further: We've played UGA damn near every year since 1958 - with about 15 match ups prior to that date - and that series is even worse in terms of wins and losses. But it didn't matter, ACC, Independent, win, or lose, we were going to play the Dawgs.
