Yeah I think looking at total yards gained in game 1 is reaching. Points is what matters.
Arkansas gave up over 20 to Texas if that’s more palatable
This was a post just speaking about rushing stats.

Texas averages 39 PPG including that game, 48.5 not including that game.
That probably isn’t the best stat to use as a counterpoint.
Colorado scores 35 against Northern Colorado.
0 against Iowa.
7 against A&M.
Not sure that would be a good one to use either
Appreciate all the number crunching and comparing teams results to come up with a sound analytical conclusion.
Let me shoot some facts and you tell me who wins this game:
Year 2009
Texas Tech beats KSU at home 66-14
KSU beats A&M at home: 62-14
A&M at Texas tech: ?

1. Arkansas outrushed us last year, didn't matter. You won't be able to consistently sustain drives against this defense.
2. We've definitely had some issues with runs up the middle, but we've also had new faces at LB and two DL starters out for various amounts of time due to suspension. Both starters are back including our best DT. Elko has notoriously been great against the run as a DC.
It could certainly be an issue on Saturday, but I don't think it will matter much as you won't get much through the air and that will make your offense predictable as the game wears on.

Clearly Tech destroys A&M..
I understand how it works.. I’m just saying the rushing yards allowed would be a concern for me. Perhaps it isn’t a concern at all. We will find out.
The real answer to your question is that you can’t use the transitive property in college football games, but especially in rivalry games.
Tech was a rival of A&M
Arkansas is a rival of A&M
Which is why I also said that this game could go either way..
PS: Remember this fact next week when you are (a) saying that you are better than Texas since you beat Arkansas or (b) saying that you are better than Texas since you lost by less than 19 points.

We get it. It should be a close game. The final score matters more than yards rushing.
But we’ll just have to wait and see if this means A&M gives up 338 rushing yards and 40 points like the sips did.

Problem is stats can tell you whatever story you want to believe.
Example drive at 25:
Run for 8
Run for 9
Run for 2
Incomplete pass
Now this team is looking at 3rd and 8 despite averaging over 6 ypc. It only took one successful run stop to potentially stall the drive.

Good news Hog fans!
KJ Jefferson 4/5 for 33 yards and a 135 passer rating on 3rd and 8+..

Eh, not really with a big enough sample size. It is early in the year but at a certain point, you are what the stats say you are

Not sure you can score 10 points this week..
But Arkansas isn’t scoring 41 either.
19-13 one way or another
Under 40 points
I’m sure i’m wrong, but that’s where I am right now.

If you’re entire argument is that it will be a low scoring game, then we’re fine with that.

(c) We are better than Texas because.... we're better than Texas. Transitive has nothing to do with it.

I have no dog in this fight.. I just like talking actual football.
My entire argument is that I would be concerned about the Arkansas Rushing Offense if I was an A&M fan.. especially since the offense hasn’t looked all that great.
Either way, I think it will be a low scoring close game unless there are a lot of turnovers

Good news.. we will likely find out in a bowl game.

Ok fair enough. Point taken. I like talking football also.
Arky’s run offense is scary. It’s more scary for tu fans because your team is soft and dog shite at tackling, but that’s another story.
The defense will have to play great against the run, which includes being in position and wrapping up.
Hopefully Elko can pull a rabbit out of his hat and make KJ complete some contested passes, and hopefully we have some DBs who are in position to contest those throws.

Look here:
Kent State vs. Aggy stats - rushing
Here:
Colorado vs. Aggy stats - rushing
And Here:
New Mexico vs. Aggy stats - rushing
In the first two games, the leading rusher or the second leading rusher was the QB.
Vs. New Mexico, the QB got nothing. Look what happened.

So, you agree with me that if Aggy can keep the QB running to a minimum, Aggy likely wins?

New Mexico State held Terry Wilson to -2 yards on 7 carries.
He did tear up Houston Baptist for 49 yards on 9 carries though..
A&M also beat Terry Wilson at Kentucky in 2018.
14 Carries for 4 yards
