I don't need the media to say "get off my lawn". And get off my lawn, by the way. Miami in the Irvin days is the most thuggish team I've ever seen, bar none. The only one close is Switzer's earlier OU teams, but they mostly restricted their thuggishness to off-the-field crimes.

I trust Loftin's judgement, and if they want to paint us as the bad guy then so be it. Its not worth fighting their spin and printing the shirts. Exposure is exposure at our level.
If they want to make Johnny the center of pay-for-play so be it. First college player on that magazine in 47 years.
Let ESPN do whatever spin job it wants. Own it and win and everything works out in the end.

We may be just thinking different, rather than the more obvious "I'm a good Aggie and you're an idiot." I don't care what ESPN thinks. A&M won't ever become 80's Miami. My take was that was what you and several others here want to happen.

You are correct, I was barely alive during 80's Miami. So if they were murdering people or something terrible I don't want that.
All I am saying is that from a brand perspective being the villain is better for us, its a better fit and role for us nationally. We would prefer to be noble and military and the junction boys but everything we are is hard to communicate so why try and ruin our chance for exposure? That plan has failed for my entire life.
Let them believe whatever they want, while we do things our way. If they want us to be the villain to help hype their next professional wrestling match then let them.
We should own it to the outside world, and be ourselves otherwise. Get what we can from them, and ride their hate and ignorance to the top.
