People do realize that this was drake's gesture before JFF did it right?
And that is the problem. Mark "drunk driver" May (verified) the rest of ESpiN,and most the the public have no idea who Drake is. Drake and Johnny are friends and hung out in Canada in the off season.
When the prez retires, they will probably build a statue of him. He is one of the biggest reasons we are in the SEC.

Nobody hates the Aggies like the Star Wars dork.

I notice you didn't answer the question
Did you watch college football in the 80's? If so and you still think A&M should emulate Miami... well, you're welcome to your wrong opinion. But I don't really think you did watch and approve of the 80's Miami, or you'd be in prison right now.
Miami is the only team for whom I'll pull for tu or Tech against. Their thugs left a lasting impression for me. I'd really hate for A&M to take over that role - not that I see that happening. Most here who are spouting out "The New U" didn't watch those games, either.

I really, really disagree with that.

Which is fine, every Aggie I have said that to agrees with you.
My perspective is too focused on an optimal marketing situation for A&M. ESPN needs villians to stack against local heros like Bama, LSU and eventually Texas. If we embrace that role (and we can as a second program in a state) our national fandom will rise greatly as ESPN will keep us top 10 for the matchups.
If we demand to sell a story that can't be told of ROTC stuff and traditions then we peak as a top 25 program brandwise IMHO.

I think you're underestimating our ability to be portrayed as a hero, struggling against all odds. You're writing us off before our story is finished.

Not to mention... who's a Miami fan? Anybody? As far as I can tell they're the most universally despised program in the country.

Interesting. So what segment of the population are you hoping to appeal to? Why not get the Yell Leaders & the Aggie band out of sight too? Being "bad" doesn't mix with Old Army very well unless you want to present more of a SS appearance.

Why is it JFF gesture? Since after first TD of game aTm running back did it. But hey let's pile on while we can and make it Penn St like hysteria.

cardboardboxer: This is what you've done. I can't for the life of me figure out why a teasip posts here and I've never agreed with anything this particular one has said. Until now. And I'm pretty sure I'm not alone. Well done!

WTF? How was Miami any worse than any other major program in the 80s?
You are way too easily swayed by the get off my lawn contingent of the media.
