I'm not forcing anything.
When I was in school, it was a huge rivalry.
So for me, it's always felt that way.
Maybe it's not the same for you. No big deal at all.

I couldn't care less if someone calls it a "rivalry" or not--last I checked, neither team earns any points for said characterization.
But I don't understand why this board makes such a big deal about whether or not a game is a "rivalry"
Who cares?
No skin off my nose if you couldn't care less about the game; and I'd bet you're not too interested in what my feelings are about it as well.

you act like LSU is the only school that the a&m posters poke fun at or that LSU posters don't poke fun at a&m. that's not even close to being true. we poke fun at everybody. LSU getting fricked with on this site is not us trying to intentionally promote some type of rivalry with LSU. its just bullshitting on this site. I don't see how that's so hard to understand

There's a long tradition of Thanksgiving and football in the state of Texas. Cowboys, A&M, and Texas.

Honestly, the only reason we troll them about it now is because they consistently admit that playing on Thanksgiving bothers them greatly.

If they'd been cool, that would have been the end of it

Not saying you, and I'm aware it once had more of a rivalry feel to it when they routinely played each other. Some A&M posters on this board have essentially admitted that they troll LSU in an effort to gin up the rivalry again. Trolling just generally pisses me off because it makes this board unreadable.

Well I wouldn't characterize my opinion of any SEC West game as one I couldn't care less about.

I was pretty amped for the game last year because of Manziel and the fact that A&M is in the division and not named Miss. St (sorry state fans, but there hasn't been much parity in that game). As far as I'm concerned, I'm equally amped for all the division games, with Bama being the exception of games that I REALLY want to win above others. And I am abundantly aware that they don't reciprocate that and care more about Auburn. I don't care because I hate Alabama on fundamental merits.

Maybe this will pan out into a more traditional rivalry one day, but I have a bitter taste in my mouth left from the NCAA trying to force-feed us a rivalry with Arkansas.

exactly. and the only reason why I postulate that we don't view LSU as a rival is because so many of them act like we are praying and hoping this turns into something when most of us aren't. while I hope it doesn't come back for a long time the game of texas will eventually come back and that whole thing will restart

Why?
Help me out!
I think it's odd as shite.
Posters here think that "rivalry" is some sort of designation that means, "we like you the best, and you like us the best; but let's agree to hate each other in public, b/c I don't want anyone to think we actually think your team and ours are equals. Because we really hate you."

It's so overthought, it feels like junior high.
I know the teams whose fans with whom I have to interact with the most in my "real life," and those are the teams I want to beat.
It's not about flattery, so get over yourselves, tigers.

Then tell your brethren to quit bitching about playing on Thanksgiving. This ain't difficult.

And you KNOW Ags aren't the only ones trolling. Hell, we aren't even the best at it as a collective on here, tbh.

tGulfWar is a powder keg just waiting to go off. It'll "feel" like a rivalry in short order, mark my words.

But y'all still won't be our rival, understand.

I'm honestly fine with it as long as the game at LSU is on Saturday and at night. At that point both schools' traditions would be an integral part of the series.

Hell, it definitely beats me watching the Cowboys lose on Thanksgiving.

I don't really care about what day we play on when it's @ TS, for the record Y'all's turf, y'all's traditions.

Means the world to a lot of Ags to play on Thanksgiving in TX, though.

Dude, I've participated in threads where Aggie posters effectively admitted that's what they were trying to accomplish. I'm sorry that doesn't resonate with you. And the trolling by Aggies on this board is incessant, so it goes hand in hand. I don't really care to delve into your personal psychological motivations.

But it's a wonder the way you pretend like no one at A&M wanted this game when it was A&M's administration that pushed for it and got it. And then I hear (I think it was you) making comments to the effect that LSU will do what Aggie wants i.e. play on Thanksgiving, and in the next breath you claim that you guys didn't want LSU for that game. If you aren't trolling, then I don't know exactly what you are doing. Making illogical remarks I suppose would be the alternative.

And I don't equate all Aggie posters, but I will generalize based off past and present experiences with a cross-section of posters.

Good lord no. We are Texans. We don't bother with the trolling we skip straight to talking shite. Last offseason was beautiful.
