I’m uncertain what happened with Elko. He’s made mostly the right moves until extended. And then he just stopped trying

Elko is no Jimbo. He puts in the work. Just a couple of bad games. He will be fine.

He hasn’t put in the work since late last year. He defaulted on two very safe coordinators this offseason. He didn’t get a backup QB.

Did it ever occur to you that he thought he had put a good foundation in and did not want to overthink his key hires? That he wanted continuity?

He promoted a guy to OC that has never called plays. That has turned out to be a phenomenal mistake. And the DC? Not sure what he was thinking. Elko needs to go back to calling the defense himself until he can hire a decent DC.

They cant do better and having to pay Jimbo 80 mil to go away is extremely embarrassing for their board. Elko might have the safest gig in the conference.
