I've never heard of another team cancelling for postseason positioning reasoning.
Aggies such as yourself state that it happens all the time but when I ask for a link of one such game, you all just tell me to go find it myself.

Notre Dame cancels a lot of games due to travel issues, my guess is they overextend themselves by traveling all over the country.
South Bend to Virginia isn't exactly a jaunt down the street.

Marshall only has a turf infield, the outfield is still grass. They also don't have lighting so the games have to be played earlier in the day.
