Texas A&M regents are moving forward with a vote on breach of contract litigation against Banks, who left after the 2017 season to become Alabama's special teams and tight ends coach. The vote is expected to take place Thursday.
Banks' contract buyout at Texas A&M requires him to pay the remainder of his contract should he leave for another Sec school.

Actually no, that is incorrect. The Board of Regents just announced Tuesday that they were going ahead with the lawsuit.

While losing a special teams coach is not devastating to Jimbo's program, contracts (your word) still means a lot in Texas.

Yes he was. He legally was removed from it. Kind of like we paid Sumlin 10 million cash to leave.

There is a legal way and a corrupt way to get out of contracts.

I'm sure he was so happy to be clear of that place he doesn't care what they do to him in court.

We are talking bama football.

He was holding the check to send to aggieland, and the head ref came over and said that isnt holding. Put that back in your pocket

This is pretty clear cut. It was explicitly written in the contrract that if he took a job at another SEC school he owed the remainder of the contract. There is just no way out of this.

If you pay attention to his pay structure at Bama, it is clear that they anticipate having to pay this. I am sure it was part of his agreement with Bama. He is making like 250,000 his first year at Bama, and like 550,000 his second and third year, and about 300K is what he owes A&M. (In other words, they knew they were on the hook for it. Bama is going to pay, but is taking out of his first year's salary. But why pay until A&M sues? I mean, it's not like simply honoring your word is important. Maybe they have some line of reasoning that they think to be legitimate, but I can't imagine what it might be. It's not like he waited until after some given date to resign or whatever.)

You don't get and stay as rich as we just giving money away and not collecting debts. Bama will pay us. End of story.

And? We also receive more gifts from alum and companies than anyone else in the SEC. We're smart with our money. Bama will pay.

Money is not our problem. Honor is our main concern.

He thought he would get a buy out and we didn't do it. Alabama will pay and I think both sides agree.

You honor your word and I think both sides are honorable...except one school needed a threat of the courts to be honorable.

A&M is likely setting precedence here, they won’t net much after the legal fees given he was a TE/ST coach.

Isn’t this a Chavis2.0?
