Gotta say, that last minute drive to set up the FG last night was pure vintage 1985 Mike Shula. We know where Cam learned his shite.

Do Alabama fans dislike Shula?

Always seemed like a nice enough guy and tbh, didn't he have to deal with sanctions?

No, not at all. Like him a lot. Glad he has had success since he left. He was not cut out or ready to be the head coach at Alabama, but that was Alabama's fault, not his. He took the job when nobody else would, didn't embarrass us and did his best.

Yea, took Shula a few years to mold Cam into an NFL QB, but once he got the Gus out of him Cam has really flourished.

Clearly it took a few years LOL

In his rookie year, Newton broke numerous rookie and all-time NFL records for passing and rushing yards. He became the first rookie quarterback to throw for 400 yards in his first game, shattering Peyton Manning's first-game record by 120 yards. He also broke Otto Graham's 61-year-old record for passing yards by any quarterback in an NFL debut. Newton would go on to become the first rookie quarterback to throw for 4,000 yards in a season, as well as the first rookie quarterback to rush for 700 yards. He also ran for 14 touchdowns, more in a single season than any quarterback in NFL history, breaking Steve Grogan's 35-year-old record.

Cam Newton, the only player capable of getting HC Chizik a NC and OC Shula a SuperBowl Win.

LOL

I did find it hilarious and laughable when Cam was coming out all the NFL holier than thous who claimed he was just a runner, would be a bust, etc. After watching him in person that day in Tuscaloosa, specifically that 4th down out route across the field to Adams (I think?), I remember everyone around me looking around and just being like "yep, this dude is a dude". I never doubted he had all the tools to be an NFL superstar. I don't know if it was racism, spread snobbery from NFL old foggies or what, but that stuff was ridiculous re: Cam's abilities as an NFL QB. Never made any sense.

Should be the only words on his HOF stump.

The team is in North Carolina, not South Carolina. You argument is invalid.

I do not know why either, but the best way to prove them wrong was on the field.

Sorry Bama jokesters, but Mike Shula is cranking out leading / winning NFL offenses. With Cam Newton (sorry). If it hurts, and it does, it is all okay. You want him back or wish him luck winning a Superbowl? or frick Don Shula's son. frick the whole Got damn Shula family. Go Cam!

Some of us in the AU family absolutely love what Mike Shula and Cam (and Ron) are doing. Via Shula, UA people feel free to claim it too. Go Cam!

Shula is likely to be the next Dolphins coach. Can Cam keep it together without him?

Just weird, do you guys really think Cam playing well in the NFL hurts? I mean it hurts me, only because I am a Falcon fan and would like to win the division again sometime in the next decade and not be terrible, but it doesn't hurt me as an Alabama fan at all. We have like 20 guys playing well in the NFL, Auburn has a bunch of guys, Tennessee. I root for some of them because they are on my team.

Whole thing is just weird, like Auburn has never had great NFL players before (they have).

The obvious question is can Shula keep it together without a decent QB? And don't say Tannehill is one...

Shula will have time, years, to build and develop. Cam is going to be expected to maintain this level from week one.

I see the LSU insanity has spilled over to Auburn now. What you so mad about? Is it because down deep inside a Carolina championship just doesn"t REALLY mean that much to Auburn? No Bama fan is claiming Shula to be great. Cam makes coaches look good (see Gene Chizik)

We are appreciative of what Mike did at Bama but no, we actually are doing fine with this Saban guy. Maybe YOU would like us to take him back is what you really mean. Maybe you're mad that we still don't have him? I could see that bothering you. We did kinda suck but that was sanctions as much as anything but no, we wouldn't have won as much even without sanctions. Anyway, no. Glad he's doing well. Maybe you can celebrate vicariously through a Carolina Super Bowl win. God knows Auburn doesn't have anything to smile about.

Cam is not really the cause for your hurt if that is the case.

The poor Falcons...

I remember when people used to yell "Go braves! and take the Falcons with ya"
