A not so crazy scenario for the playoff committee

13-0 Clemson by default
12-1 Georgia SEC Champs loss to USCe in OT
12-1 LSU loss Georgia SECCG

It would appear these 3 would be in.

Here's where it may get interesting

13-0 Baylor Big 12 Champs in a terrible Big 12 conference. All other teams will have at least 3 losses.
12-1 OSU losses to Minnesota in very close/OT Big 10 Championship game?
12-1 Minnesota Big 10 Champs loss at home to Wisconsin in a blowout
12-1 Utah PAC 10 Champs road loss USC 8-4 in a terrible PAC 10 conference
11-1 Alabama loss LSU

Just going by what the committee has shown already.

Does Baylor get in by going undefeated? They are 13th as of now behind two 2 loss teams. Does beating OU twice impress the committee or does it make OU look overrated?
Does the committee not penalize OSU because it was a very close/OT loss?
After losing to Wisconsin, Minnesota will fall out of the top 10. The committee has already proven they don't see them as a legit team. Does beating OSU in the Big 10 CG vault them to 4?
Is it Utah because they are ranked at 7 and jump Alabama?
Does the committee say we will stick with the Big $$$ and put Alabama in? Yes, I know this one is crazy, but they gave Bama a pass twice already.

Would love to see this play out just for one reason. The committee is total garbage. One of the biggest reasons for pushing the playoffs was to get the 4 top teams in. What is the biggest criteria now? Yep, the eyeball test. The only way the eyeball test works is purely on opinion. The one thing we can all agree on is this. Everyone of these teams can get hot and win two games. All it takes is a few bad plays/mistakes and you are done.

The committee has shown is over 5 years that no non-champ has ever made it over a conference champ with less than 2 losses.

In your scenario it's Clemson uga Baylor Utah

You are denial.

If everything holds out I’m the other 4 confs. And UGA beats LSU.., the Tigahs are out.

You will not get in over the following teams..
Undefeated or 1 loss Clemson ACC champ
Undefeated or 1 loss OSU, Minn, or PSU B10 champ
Undefeated or 1 loss Baylor, OU B12 champ
1 loss Oregon/ Utah, PAC champ
1 loss UGA, SEC champ...

It will not happen!

The committee has NEVER left out a 1 loss P5 champ for a non champ.

I'm not saying a 12-1 LSU would get in, but I am saying here and now that they won't be supplanted by freaking Baylor.

You’re right. UGA will not beat LSU.

Prepare thy anus (secondary).

If Baylor goes undefeated they are 100% in the playoffs. Without question.

If there are that many good candidates by the end of the season, the SEC won't get 2 teams in.

And no way an undefeated or 1-loss Big 10 team gets left out for freakin Baylor. Zero percent chance.

False. A 1-loss Big 10 champion will get the nod over an undeafeated Baylor. Even with a loss, the Big 10 champion will have at least two more big wins than Baylor.

Funny thing about the word never, it's meaningless once it happens. I'm here to tell you, LSU with only 1 loss is getting in. The precedent that a non conference champion can get in has been set and never has a 1 loss team had the resume LSU has. People think schedules are weak now? Let LSU be left out and the precedent will be set that schedule, in the end, doesn't really matter.

Clemson loses they are out. Their schedule is worse than Bamas.
Minny loses they are out.
Baylor loses they are out.
Honestly feel Utah and Oregon need each other to be in the Pac 12 title game at 1 loss in order for a defacto playoff game. Oregon doesn't need Utah as much as Utah needs Oregon

Undefeated Baylor is in. Would have two wins over OK and a win over Texas.

No way is OSU losing to anyone except maybe LSU or Clemson.

Gonna let you in on a secret...

The playoff committee decides what result it wants and then retrofits a justification. They don't actually have an objective system. Otherwise you wouldn't need a committee. You could just run it through an algorithm like the BCS. Why do you think they didn't keep the BCS rankings or introduce a new algorithm if they weren't happy with the BCS one?

If Baylor beats OU twice and Texas once, they would have wins over a 3+ loss OU team, and a 4+ loss Texas team. Not all that impressive. Not anywhere near what it'll take to the the Big 10 this year.

you may be right, but the committee will hate it and you will see changes. If LSU loses the SECCG they should be in danger of not making it. I'm not a fan of getting a pass at any point.

Lots of people think if they lose a close one they will still be in. I would rather stomp mutt arse instead

This OP is more about the committee picking a #4 and doing something crazy, not about LSU. If LSU loses at any point, they should be in danger of not making it.
