Currie now will get to choose from a self-selecting sample of coaches
Wow. So he's still in charge. Good grief.

TN is better off without him. If Schiano is so great, why isn't anyone else talking to him? Nebraska? Arkansas? Surely he'll be gobbled up by UCF immediately right?
He had a losing record at Rutgers and was fired from Tampa after everyone turning on him. He's said a ton of really idiotic things over the years and he's alienated a TON of players.
JMO, TN is better off with the turmoil today and get a better coach.

Not a soul besides Haslam and his puppet AD is interested in him. That alone speaks volumes.

Wasn't it reported at least 2 weeks ago that this guy was up for the job? where was the outrage then? why weren't there protests before?
Answers: 1. It was. 2. There was none. 3. Because Grumors.
I've been listening to WNML on and off, and no matter how many times Jimmy Hyams said, "Gruden is not realistic; he's not coming," it never hit bottom with the fans here.

I agree with all of this. I just wish they would be honest and say this^^^^^instead of the flimsy Penn St. crap. It is a bullcrap smoke screen and most folks who aren't volfan can see through it. If the man really did enable Sandusky I hope he pays for it, but there isn't nearly a clear enough link to condemn him.

What I read was your shitty fanbase didn't think a coach was a good pick so they used child rape victims as a tool to get rid of an innocent man.

When a candidate is potentially controversial, a school will often leak that it is considering that candidate as a trial balloon. Had Currie floated such a balloon in the past few days, Tennessee’s fan base would have reacted in similar fashion. The difference is the sides wouldn’t already have a Memorandum of Understanding. The Vols could have moved on to another candidate without a full-on revolt that will wind up making the search even more difficult going forward.
In hindsight, the above makes perfect sense.
Everything is political.

Go back and look at his record after the first two years with the shite he inherited.
Schiano built that program to the point where they could join the Big 10.

So he's a great coach because he made Rutgers slightly less shitty?

You are right.
I did not read it.

I get that reading comprehension isn't your strong point, so I'll try to explain on a more elementary level.
I didn't say he was a great coach. I said it's stupid to yap about him having a losing record. I also said that he'd actually built a program...something neither Jones, Dooley, Kiffin, or Fulmer had done before being hired.
The last four hires at UT were Jones, Dooley, Kiffin, and Fulmer.
Which one had as good a record as Schiano when he was hired?

I'll keep it simple:
Vols wanted guy from Corona commercial to be coach
Guy from Corona commercial said"I am not coaching again"
Vols took Corona guy at his word.
Vols hired guy who was a decent coach but not Corona guy
Vols really want Saban 2.0 like everyone else in SEC
Guy on radio starts a slander campaign on a guy about a real bad incident at Penn State that he may or may not have witnessed (he was NEVER questioned in the incident officailly)
Near riot erupts at UT
UT withdraws offer
Bama fans laugh arses off
