A couple of questions about the new Kyle Field...

...regarding total capacity and number of suites.
Right now, Tennesse's Neyland Stadium has a capacity of 102,455 and 120 suites. Alabama's Bryant-Denny Stadium has a total capacity of 101,821 and 159 "skyboxes" AKA suites.
When the South End Zone expansion is completed in 2014, LSU's Tiger Stadium will grow to a total capacity of around 100,000 and 130 suites. The rumored addition of the North End Zone expansion in 2016 or 2017 will give Tiger Stadium a total capacity of around 108,000 and 200 suites.
I understand from previous posts that ATM is planning a phased approach, and is still deciding whether to start fresh or renovate the existing stadium.
Was just curious if any of you had heard any numbers being thrown around, and whether you think ATM will try a little "one-upmanship" as far as the new facility.
TIA.

With room enough to add on to both of the NEZ and SEZ to bring it to 120k probably around 2030-2040

That place is gonna be booming.

Plano has bought the naming rights to the stadium.

thats along ways away. mike's cage would have to be moved. part of the PMAC would be under the expansion and the "victory hill" tradition would be lost

The NEZ expansion will not be exactly like the SEZ. It will be probably be a lot more open air, and the supports will be wider. The north end of Tiger Stadium curves a lot more than the south end does.
LSU wouldn't be trying to cover up anything, like was the case in the SEZ.

When did they ever say anything about a North EZ Expansion?

You do know that North Stadium Road is already in the process of being turned into a pedestrian-only walkway?

Not sure about Mike's Cage or the PMAC ramps.
Look at your picture again, and realize how close the south end of TS is to the street. That didn't stop the SEZ addition from being built. There's more room in the north end, and the supports can be wider.

Any talk regarding the expansion of Kyle Field would be speculation right now. They have done a good job at keeping the information from leaking until all of the details are worked out. I would expect it to seat around 100k, not sure about the suites though.

Thanks! How many suites does Kyle have now?

After the NEZ expansion in '16-17 you guys would probably be expanding the sidelines before the end zones again

What we can tell you is that it will be among the finest sports venues in all of American sport.
Details are sparse.
Red brick facade, enclosed, lowered field, between 95-103k.
It will be among the most significant redevelopment projects in American sports.
I'm so happy you all get to witness it.

You guys should just rebuild it from the ground up but make the design the same. Just enclose the open end zone like the other end zone is and add more seats in the upper decks on the sidelines

I heard Kyle was bat-shite crazy.

Our Chancellor wants it to be the biggest in Texas. Others want 95k with an option to expand ten years down the road. My thought is that since interest rates are there lowest in 50 years we will go with the former.

What he was alluding to was the fact that the end zone expansion was not as big as it could have been, partly to avoid doing roadwork.
This is what a full expansion to the SEZ could have looked like...
...that alone would have taken Tiger Stadium to around 115,000 capacity.
