quote:Yup. Look at the stats. We're arrogant about basketball for a reason. And its why when a team comes up for a few seasons we get annoyed at the hubris. But I'll admit we do enjoy having some good challenges in the conference. Just no one ever has the staying power.
Damn Kentucky really runs this conference

I'm sure that's probably true. But just go to an SEC tournament, and you'll see that Kentucky likely will have more fans than the other teams combined. Like the commercial says, it just means more to Big Blue in hoops.
If Wiki is to be believed UK has 31 SEC Tournament wins, everyone else has 28 combined.

We had to vacate one each if we want to get technical. Not that it matters when the disparity is this great.
UK reg season titles: 50
The rest of the SEC: 53 (56 if you add 2 for Georgia Tech and 1 for Tulane)
UK SEC tourney titles: 32
The rest of the SEC: 27 (28 if you count Georgia Tech)
Hope this helps.

There is an argument that you should basically have different points scales for pre-big tournament and post-big tournament, because it wasn't all that long ago that teams in the SEC could go 22-6 and not go to the NCAA Tournament. So, I'd get that.
This. Some of Tennessee’s best teams fell victim to this thanks to Kentucky.

Alabama and Tennessee probably more so than anybody else (Vandy a bit too).
Alabama had teams finish 13-5, 13-5, 15-3, 14-4 in the SEC in 1972, 1973, 1974 and 1977 and none of them made the NCAA Tournament. 1974 and 1977 finished ranked #14 and #11 and didn't go to the tournament.

My uncle was a point guard on the 1972 and 1973 Alabama teams and is still close with Leon Douglas. He doesn't talk about his playing days much but does have some really cool stories. For example, he attempted to guard Paul Westphal but gave up 42 points to him...lol. However, he still to this day holds the Coleman Coliseum record for most free throws made in a game going 18 for 20 from the line.

Btw, other than Florida and LSU deserving to be ranked higher the list looks pretty solid.

Basketball was much worse. We did have a F4 pre-Donovan, but we were awful for a long time. Football wasn't winning championships, but they were typically pretty decent.

So Western Kentucky has a better program than...Florida and Arkansas?
Yea...Gtfo with that list lol

Makes zero sense how they scored the programs haha

If Florida hadn't won those two titles, WKU unequivocally would have the better program. But, you did, so I agree with you. But it wasn't that long ago, yeah, they did have a better program historically than you.

You fricking idiots will come up with a negative for EVERY athletic team that's not named LSU! How sick and insecure can you get?
