Well….you still have to be good enough. An example….if two teams fairly equal
In talent when the season starts….one plays a murderers row another plays 9 cupcakes in a row….good chance the one playing cupcakes will still have their fro I e players healthy while the other team is I to their second and third teamers

The committee is filled with people that have allegiance with all the different conferences. We also know they have a bias against the SEC and its past dominance.Fans better be ready for disappointment from these members.

I'd like to see a study that shows this. I think injuries happen regardless of the level of competition. They happen in practice, in scrimmages. If the level of competition is such that you're pulling your starters after the first quarter, maybe. But I suspect at the FBS level that's rare.
It's an argument that sounds right, but probably has no basis in fact.

Depends on the Big 10 etc though I think the SEC may only have three 10-2 or better teams meaning a 4th spot would have 3 losses.

You didn’t provide an example but I’ll give you an example of the contrary
The 80-97(the weakest era of sec football for anyone under 50) the sec won three nattys
The bcs era 98-2013(strongest era of sec football) the sec won nine out of 16 nattys, over half. I’m not sure history backs this theory up. Even in a sec bubble(div years) the west dominated the east in seccg during the saban era(west was much tougher) and the east dominated the spurrier/fulmer era(east was tougher)

We know. It’s BS but not unprecedented. I watched Oklahoma and Nebraska play every year for national titles when they were in the Big 8. They both had one game, each other. The winner went to the orange bowl and played miami or Florida state who hadn’t played anybody but each other.

And Utah would lose those 4 games by 30+ points. They would be overwhelmed on offense + defense. And the huge difference in overall team/game “stats” would be far greater than the point margin.
Forget SEC playoff teams. Utah would struggle playing Average-Mid Level & lower ranked SEC teams, and would lose more than half of those matchups even @ Ute Stadium!
Utah’s ranking is like DEI….undeserved & unearned!

1/2 the SEC would beat them easily

The Big Ten has power too.
It is basically a two conference sport now. The SEC and the Big Ten.
